About The Most On Line I've Seen And Nobody's Talking

Tree's been offline a while and has just gone through this thread. As one who has had his threads 'highjacked' and has highjacked a few himself I don't see a problem with showing some respect to what the thread is about.

There was a (is?) a coffeeshop chatroom. Being the stone age guy that I am I don't know how to use a chatroom and probably don't care to learn.

I've started a few threads that wanted to explore emotions (height of the cross was one) and had them filled with what might have really happened. I DON'T GIVE A SHIT what might have really happened!!! I'd take a class or something.

As for elf hunting and drinks, Tree drinks and will continue to hunt elf girls with the hope of finding that prime redhead.

Maybe we could agree just to have fun and stop polluting threads when its originator asks or better yet have the brains to see we aren't going where that's where they wanted?

OK! In the thread which are made for that....;)

Entirely agree! There are threads for fun and jokes, and I want to bring them my contribution ...but, in contrepartie, I wish that we can have serious threads of discussions, without jokes's pollution....

We all have joked and we all have been part of hijacking I guess.
And it's hard to prevent, just because of the way how discussions work:
One sees a thread in the "what's new" list, opens and reads, without really "digesting" the title of the thread and what it originally was about and replies to the latest posts, bringing in one's own thoughts.
It's almost inevitable to slightly head "left" or "right" with that reply, without bad will or lack of respect.
Two or three replies later the thread is heading in a totally different direction if nobody throws in a reply that brings it back on track.
That's what I called "big branch".
This happens in any discussion, written or spoken.
Do the following experiment on next occasion you have some friends together on the couch: Note where the discussion starts and where it is after 10 minutes, if there is no moderator who brings it back on track!
The same happens in written threads.
The remedy is brining it back on track with replies and / or splitting threads.

Splitting a thread in phpBB (the forum software I am using) is as easy as opening the thread editor (moderators), checking the replies that should be part of the "child-thread", selecting a new title and thread location and hitting "split".
I personally insert an "Admin Note" in tle last response on the original thread before the split, containing a link to the new child thread and vice versa in the first post on the new thread, what makes "understanding the evolution" easier and is friendly on top.

Unrelated chit-chat in a thread is more of a question of respect, I agree.
That's why I tend to show my appreciation in artist threads by using the LIKE button and not always with a written reply, that scatters the thread as well.
Thinking of this type of reply I suggested to look at the "OT/Comment" functionality.

The main theme you picked up however is not "polution" imho, but lack of participation, to bring it back on track ;)

Sometimes, for me, too much polution brings no desire to participate;)

I think it's a good view of the forum....
For me, I'ld situate myself in the last part of this description...
Yes, I could be interested by such discussions, I've tried to impulse them in
a thread that I'd opened, but the result wasn't very convincing...
I was asking for women's participations and only two or three were coming...
If this thread have continued some times, it was because I was the only
woman impulsing questions or problems...
So, you're right, Fantasmo: I'm a few tired !

Unfortunatly, I'm obliged to note that I can have serious discussions
only in PM and , sure, it's not easy, in these conditions, to contribute
in the same time into the forum...
And when, extra, you're sollicited to be an "hero" of some stories (I'm not
against this fact, I like to live my fantasies!) or , as I like, to write my own
stories, it's difficult to be not tired!......:(

It was some thoughts that I leave here to say my tiredness...
Thanks for your attention.....

I'm just not into poetry Melissa but I understand...

Messaline... not Melissa...

I can't follow that jump to "poetry", unless you wanted to say that you don't respond on Messa's poems because it's not your cup...

But I think that's the least of her concerns in the sense that she expressed. (Obviously every contributor likes to see reactions anyhow).
And I think that we had one or the other discussion going in the desired direction as well lately.

Some good points were made within this discussion, question remaining if anything of that will find its way into the modus operandi.

Indeed, that is what I meant. Thank-you kind Sir for correcting my mistake, and my apologies to Melissa?

Too many Mmmmm's here....:D

Yes, some good points, and if it could be continued, I'ld be happy...
