I really like the washed-out color. Seems like a behind the scenes look. The girl on the right is screaming just as you would expect under the circumstances.

I agree...they both seem exhausted...spent. Lots of time left though. Nothing to do but hang...and suffer...and endure the unendurable...

these are done so beautifully. That's a wonderful and cruel nailing, quite something to feel and a very special placement...
I wouldn't be able to rise on the cross at all like that, no way to press my feet against the post, only the nails! Only squirming and hanging and arching out a bit, and so much tear on my nailed wrists and through my arms and chest. I would surely succumb quickly.
What a wonderful way to show this moment:
This crux, that's for seeing me suffer long, allowing me to use the strength in my legs and push up again and again.
And if that way of nailing isn't, um, accessible enough, and gets boring to onlookers or torturers, well there was that big pair of pliers among the tools, and that can also be used to pull out the nail, move feet elsewhere such as sideways on the post and do it again...
that's what we're for isn't it...?
Anyway this has been a beautiful series.
Roping my wrists and ankles like that would make it easier for my Executioners
to drive the nails into just the right spots, preventing me from sudden movements or struggling,
and keeping them bound would to some extent relieve the tugging on the nails in my wrists,
and pressure on those in my feet, perhaps a little less pain,
but anything that restricts movement will make it that much harder for me
to vary my position and the strain imposed on my limbs.

Agreed. What I like is the detailed attention paid here to how the rope is wound around my fingers and hand in order to bind my hand ready for nailing in a way that holds it tightly in place and prevents movement. Very real!
