Alice Kiss - Crux Legend

Go to CruxDreams.com
Since Jollyrei invited me to make a birthday wish, I could not resist responding with the following pensive portrait of Alice by Rylsky from the 'Metart' series entitled, 'Pietra'. Naturally my birthday wish was to celebrate Alice by starting this thread - and so my wish came true!
You must have blown out all the candles in one go. ;):D:rolleyes:

'Alice Returns to Paris'

Maha Shiva is breaking new ground on DeviantArt with his fourth Alice manipulation, 'Alice Returns to Paris'. As he explains in his narration, 'Last time she was there as a tourist; this time she was on a mission. Unfortunately, both trips turned out badly for her.' Shiva is referring to his earlier manip depicting the consequences of ticket evasion at the Louvre ('News from around the World (1)'.) Now she appears to be charged with the offence of inciting a slave rebellion in the French capital and facing similar consequences to the first occasion.

To date Alice remains the only Makar model employed by Shiva, and I have congratulated him on achieving a number of firsts with this picture. Whilst the source image has already been popularised by St. Johny and Messaline (also in a French setting) Shiva is the first manipulator to use the pose in an overtly contemporary scene, the first to pierce her nipples with the titulus attachments, and the first to display her name, 'Alice Kiss', within the picture.

Cypher once used her name in a picture title (but not in the picture itself - 'Ruins, Alice Kiss, Crux, Ravens and Blood') and my own manips include a titulus naming her simply as 'Alicia'. Shiva's picture has prompted some discussion about the accuracy of the word, 'Agitateur', which appears on the titulus - perhaps Messa will comment on this?

Exploiting the visual tension between Alice's nudity and her armed police escort in riot gear, Shiva's manip follows hot on the heels of his previous patibulum-carry, inspired by 'Game of Thrones' - 'GoT: The Grand Parade (Alternative Version)'. This manip features another famous crux star, Shannon, and prompted a positive comment just three days ago, by none other than Welsh Webb himself.

Damian has been producing more of his Roman Decadence manipulations, recently inspired by the artwork of Michele Patri. Among the new submissions by Damian in Michele's thread, Public Executions In The Arena, is the very latest Alice manipulation, 'Roman Decadence 750' (#1) which appeared yesterday. This manip is partly derived from Michele's 'Gabriel Roman arena 287-1-' (#2) which Damian has re-worked with new background textures and new figures added to those already in the stands (upper right) and, most significantly, in the foreground.

The figure of Alice is a composite, her body deriving from the Makar source (#3) which has become familiar from manipulations by St. Johny and Jollyrei. Damian has changed the original head for one which appears in a 'Crux Forrest' video screen shot (coincidentally the same one I re-worked previously in Photoshop (#4.)) The result is a new version of Alice, created from authentic visual components. The Makar pose is reversed and the entire figure is re-coloured to blend in the new face and complement the lighting of the Roman Arena background. The whole picture has a subdued, vintage colour approaching sepia tone.

Conforming with the requirements of his website, this is another bloodless crucifixion, in which Makar's original bindings have been retained with only slight modifications. Nice work, Damian.

Maha Shiva has done it again! Just five days after submitting 'Alice Returns to Paris' on DeviantArt, he has presented us with his fifth Alice manipulation, entitled, 'Selfie' (#1.) But this is not Paris.

Alice has been captured by some fundamentalist types and crucified in the street, close to what appears to be an earth barricade in a war-torn town. The spectators are keeping their distance from the proceedings but we are still waiting for the background story to this picture from the Shiva News Agency. Meanwhile, Shiva has provided an explanation suggesting that 'over the past few days she somehow managed to escape Paris and got to Mosul, but of course the cross was never far behind her. Poor thing just can't catch a break!'

Whilst this is Shiva's fifth Alice manip, it employs the same Makar source (#2) as his third Alice picture, 'Alice Faces the Mob' (#3 - originally entitled, 'Alice Meets the Mob') although the source image has been reversed in the latest manipulation.

Consistent with Shiva's creative style, 'Selfie' puts the crux theme into a contemporary setting, the ancient execution method being recorded on a modern mobile phone. The heavily armed and diversely attired militia men thrust themselves into camera shot in the foreground whilst Alice dominates the middle distance. She is elevated above head height but removed from the foreground action, apparently reduced to a supporting role in the picture. Immersed in her agony, she is oblivious to the behaviour of her executioners.

As always in these scenes, her naked vulnerability presents a contrast with the body armour worn by fighting men, armed to the teeth. Her isolation, pain and suffering contrasts with the men's self-indulgent souvenir snapshot and casual camaraderie. Violence is portrayed in simple terms of cause and effect. Shiva's technical skill has yielded an image which is visually consistent, highly convincing, and at the same time deeply disturbing, because it is so convincing.

Yes I got into the tathi with that - I was thinking maybe 'agitateuse',
Shiva came up with 'agitatrice', which a French Deviant said was best,
though she didn't think 'agitateur' wrong - I think in French
(as in English - actor, author etc.), the masculine form is used as common quite generally,
distinct feminine forms seem to be optional.

I was searching for what pic you were talking ...
mahashiva001 alice_returns_to_paris_by_mahashiva001-dbodzaf 200pc.jpg
Yes, it's titled "Agitateur d'esclaves " ( = troublemaker ?) But, in English, you've no feminine !
So, like Shiva'origine is from English language, he didn't make the difference ...
In fact, if it was in Paris, the policemen do write : "Agitatrice" !
But myself I'd not seen this subtility in viewing the pic !:D
Perhaps am I becoming an English woman ?

All the more: Le fém. est très rare.

Not in this case, Eul ... and concerning actor too ! "Acteur" ... "Actrice" is always used !
For example, Romy Schneider was a great "actrice" ...
The feminine is not used when the word could be not "agreable" to hear :
auteur ... autrice

But "mathematicien" is becoming "mathematicienne" ! and when there is not feminine term, we use of the "article" which has the two forms :
"un" philosophe / "une " philosophe .;)

Latin had philosophus/ philosopha, Cicero (for example) used both -
both those words would have become philosophe in French,
but (as Messa tells us) the article marks the gender.

Crucificatrice?
