These days there'd be protests about cultural appropriation. With some justice, it seems - the people of Rapa Nui (Easter Island) seem to have had a pretty lousy deal from successive colonial rulers. The dress code is - or at least before the missionaries came was - pretty much like Sandrine's.

Yes, and this is consistent with the traditional dress code for a lot of pre-colonial indigenous cultures in the Pacific it seems. As to the cultural appropriation issue, at least Rapa Nui was considered (at least in some circles) to be a sympathetic portrayal of the Easter Island culture (even if it was mainly an adventure/romance), but it is true that most of the actors Holt, Essai Morales, etc. were not Pacific Islanders.

On that subject, the most strange inclusion of Sandrine Holt was her role in the movie "Dance me Outside" which was a movie about a group of young adult indigenous people and their run ins with "settler" Canadian society and trying to fit in. Most of the indigenous people were played by indigenous actors, except for the inclusion of Holt (who might have been included to help sell the film).

Well I think she looks absolutely beautiful even today, especially the more gothy look with the dark eye makeup - love it, but then I'm a bit of a goth myself so I like that look anyway
