Sorry Helach, I tried to find this for you. I looked at all of the Quoom series I have, and was unable to find this for you
It seems to be one of Quoom's that I do not have.
Broken and feeling the heat, I am wondering why I thought I could withstand the torture. Perhaps I should have confessed right away?

It is likely to be even worse.
If you confess, you are a defendant confesses, that is a criminal, and criminals must be punished.

As TC says it's a catch 22.
If you don't confess you are tortured to get you to confess.
If you do confess you are guilty and are punished.
There is no easy way out. Best not to get accused and arrested in the first place.
Unless that is what your heart secretly desires!
