Thanks to all for your responses to my Katharsis etching. I especially like the idea of the "mixed" crucifixion process, incorporating women as both the crucified and spectators or torturers. As in this series of pics, two men and a woman up on the wood, the spectators gathering, I'm not sure if it's the men lusting after the nailed guys or gals, or vice versa for the gals. Wonderful images! Yes, there is something exciting and erotic about crucifying men and women in public. I have been crucified outdoors along with other gay male slaves and the experience is heightened by watching others struggle naked on their cornus while spread and hung on their crosses. The reactions of the spectators is another important element. I've never been touched by a spectator, but oftentimes one will stand very close to the cross and examine my body and my predicament. Wrock 45. Jacob continues to precariously maintain balance during the pre-crucifixion rope torture. An hour or so he hangs there, and as the bee stings intensify this becomes intolerable, much to the delight of watching soldiers and spectators.
Wrock 43. In the meantime Jacob's co conspirator Joseph is chained stretched to the tree limbs, staring at Jacob's torment in horror. His captor rests and sips wine and teases the boy. "You look so beautiful there, that lithe yet muscular body providing me a preview of how you shall dance on the cross. Continue to watch the cock hanging of Jacob, what I will do to you shall be worse".
Wrock 39. Off the rope now and Jacob's final journey is about to commence. Stripped naked completely in front the the grand Executioner and centurions. The executioner delicately places his sword on the prisoner's shoulder and smiles. "I am told that one has perished just now on the wood. It looks like we can fit you in".
Wrock 42. The executioner smiles as tugging on the chain to Jacob's neck. "Taking you now to the pile of logs boy, we'll let you choose the one you hang from. Careful with the spear centurion, we want to be sure he hangs from the wood a long time, gives the crowd a good show".

I'm feeling grumpy today.
A few personal dislikes in some of the things posted recently.
First the over-muscled men in the crux images.
Cuffs to hang by, it is easy to use soft ropes instead (as explained some time ago), cuffs are too much to do with private BDSM sessions, personally I prefer images to be more about the actualities & horrors of crucifixion where sexual assault in public was a major element of the torture.
Naked executioners. The thing about being stripped for execution in front of spectators was that one was meant to feel the full force of the vulnerability and shame of being the only one (or one of two or three others) naked and raised up for public exposure. If some or all of those carrying out the execution are also naked it would diminish the self-consciousness of having one's tackle on show to a laughing crowd. That is my criticism of Jarman's Sebastian, too many naked men, Sebastian's nudity seemed the norm.

I agree with your third point.
2nd point, cuffs are easy and safe. It's harder to do good work with rope, but if you are looking for something more authentic it's worth it. As for images from the likes of Dream Boy Bondage, I excuse the cuffs for the generally great suspension crux that you get.
1st point - yes, well, mea culpa. I know his work isn't for everyone, and they are over muscled, of course, but he does some good work and he's worth posting imho.
I try to offer variety, everything from art to bondage to self crux. I know you have high standards PhilX and I've always admired everything you do, you put heart and soul into your work and the results are unrivaled

Yes, the victim should be nailed or securely bound by the wrists and ankles with coarse rope or leather strips. Leather strips soaked in brine are even better, as they will tighten and shrink as they dry in the hot sun.
ONLY the victim to be crucified should be nude. His or her nakedness will serve to humiliate and degrade them, exposing their bodies to the crowd. The Executioner can be stripped to the waist and wear a hood, for effect. All other torturers or assistants should be properly clothed, although they may be stripped to the waist.

PhilX. I tend to mostly agree with you though I guess it's each to his own preference. I love the way you depict the full crucifixion process, the shame of the stripped naked condemned ones looked on by a fully or at least partially dressed lustful crowd, some sneaking money to the lowly paid guards, just to get the chance to participate in his torture and execution. I like your works with the kingly garments also, the robed draped over him but with the genitalia exposed. This greatly adds to the humiliation of his death march. Stripped naked for the whipping of course, but then the robe for his trial and eventual death march. Crucified naked of course. I believe these are all of your creations but correct me if I'm wrong. And, keep up the good work.

Yes, I realise it's all down to personal preferences of course. And yes, executioners wielding a scourge would strike harder if stripped to the waist, one step up from rolling up one's sleeves.
Looking at the films with crucifixions I now find the loincloth totally ridiculous. Why would the executioners bother to remove clothing yet maintain some sort of covering round the victim's middle to give them some modesty. It would make more sense to leave the clothing on, which might have happened with mass crucifixions to save time.

LOVE this particular series! Two very different male body types, crucified in two very different ways. The bald man with the enormous pot belly and his more fit companion are reduced to the obscene, their exposed, naked bodies nailed in fixed poses in a public setting. The loss of bladder control is inevitable and only adds to the abject humiliation and degradation of the victim.

I agree with PhilX, the condemned must be naked, the executioners and the observers dressed or partially dressed but not naked.
The condemned may initially be dressed but stripped for execution.
In my fantasies I present myself like this.

Although any reference to an fascist emblems is a precarious balance, I think what you meant was any dystopian repressive system; uniformed officers putting a rebel on trial, stripped completely naked in the assumed position.
