Crucified males

I was surprised to read that you had posed for Plinio, Adrianus. I was crucified in that position, with my arms over the top of the patibulum, when I was a teenager. I know how excruciating it can be. I couldn't get down fast enough. I don't think I could stand it long enough to take a photo, let alone pose for the time it would take to make a drawing. Did Plinio make the drawing over time in several sessions?
Well, I was not hanging, but standing on tiptoe. Nevertheless it is an awkward position. But Plinio is a very quick artist, he did it in one go, I don´t know how much time this one costed, but less than half an hour. And it belongs to the happiest half an hours in my life :)

I especially liked the second image, Patrizio. It has been my experience that after you have been crucified for any length of time, you are not as likely to have an erection. The image seemed to have authenticity. Of course, nudity would be part of the torment, so as to humiliate the victims. View attachment 1556337 I modified you image a little, to keep it under 400KB. You are an inspiration to all of us 70+ year olds.

Ancient Greece gave art a lot of romantic plots.

One of these plots is the crucifixion of Polycrates

Note that sculptors and painters depict Polycrates much younger than his real age, realizing that strong and handsome young men look more attractive on the cross.

The tyranny of Polycrates prompted Pythagoras to leave his native Samos. Pythagoras, the founder of mathematics, symbolizes the harmonious side of Greek culture in which modern rationality originates. Pythagoras was an ascetic and a kind mentor. Polycrates, on the other hand, was a rapist and a pirate. The crucifixion of Polycrates symbolizes the Dinosian side of ancient Greek culture. Moreover, the artists want Polycrates to be crucified earlier, when he was young and strong, and then peace-loving Pythagoreans would rule Samos.

This series of images cannot be called a crucifixion in full, but it evokes associations with the story of Polycrates.

Perhaps this story did not take place in the real Ancient Greece, but in its shadow reflection of Arcadia. The courageous Polycrates, desiring fame, gathered unmarried young men on a sea trip to the island of Lesbos, in order to enslave the young pupils of the Sappho hetaera school. However, the young sapphires called the Amazons for help and Polycrates was captured by one of them. However, in raids for brides, it is not so important who was captured by whom. Therefore, everything ended well - everyone will be crucified!

Lucas is hanging on the cross, his body exhausted, sweat dripping from his forehead, and tears mixing with the blood running down his face. His gaze is fixed on Adam, who stands below, bound and seemingly prepared to face the same fate. Despite the pain consuming him, Lucas reads fear in Adam's eyes, but also something that keeps him alive—hope. Perhaps it's the feeling that they will survive together, or the hope that their suffering will have some meaning. In this moment, between their gazes, a silent dialogue takes place—not through words, but through the emotions that bind their fates.
