The Syndicate wants Barbara Moore. Badly. They tried to kidnap her in Uppsala, Sweden and failed. Then, they tried again in the Swedish Far North and were foiled again. Now they have her closer to home, in Tokyo, where their contacts in the Japanese yakuza have been hired to abduct her and her two companions, Officer Gun Thorell of the Uppsala PD and intern Annika Sjöberg, both of whom were instrumental in saving Barbara and Chang Min-Ji, the North Korean defector that Barbara and her former mentor, Åke Persson, were debriefing about human rights abuses in the Hermit Kingdom. Meanwhile, back in New York, retired NYPD detective Stan Goldman is feeling lonely and broke, since his former partner in both police work and life, Barbara Moore (no relation), has left him after a big fight over her investment losses. When he gets a call from Uppsala Police Chief Inspector Lennart Björklund, with whom he once worked on a case, asking if he would be willing to go to Japan and keep an eye on the three women, he jumps at the chance. But, Stan’s guard duties are severely hampered by the fact that Officer Gun Thorell is determined to look out for herself and her companions and is not interested in being watched by an aging, if still handsome, retired American cop. Unfortunately, she underestimated the Syndicate and their yakuza accomplices and the three are soon spirited away to a dungeon deep beneath a legally operating club, known as the Red Dragon Torture Dungeon Place. While the upstairs part is strictly for show, the downstairs, where the women suffer and are made to please their captors in countless unpleasant ways, is all too real. At that moment another former NYPD cop and CIA operative, now freelancing on a mission of personal vengeance, Bill Johnson, arrives in Tokyo, where he teams up with Stan.
