The welts look fine but I wonder if her skin would have remained so pale and smooth after many days toiling under the burning sun without any relief.

Oh for me? You shouldn’t have, but I am so very very glad you did. I’m the volunteer in the back receiving special treatment- everyone said I was crazy to do it until the day they visited the galley. They were disappointed the ship was full when they saw me, but the waiting list clears quickly as slaves are worked and beaten unto death. Sometimes, when there is a long waiting list, a few lucky exhausted slaves are crucified in port, or on the masthead and prow. That is our fate

And notice the captains who actually had to power galleys with slaves didn't see any point to using them either!

But boys and their fantasies will not be denied.

I have a sneaking suspicion that in some deep dark as yet undiscovered cave there is cave art porn that was invented about 3 seconds after the first animal was draw on a cave wall.

@Baracus Ok, sure, I’ve seen it before, but as far as simple prosaic cruelty, this image is hard to beat!

Lovely, is she being punished because she created that puddle with her own urine but galley slaves are forbidden to urinate (or defecate) while they row? Perhaps it was the relentless lashing that caused her to piss? And now she suffers a harsher punishment due to her miscreance… Mmmm, wish I was her!
