Looking at all of the photos from yesterday's Passion Plays around the world there is a fakeness about pretty well all of the crucified actors, none of them look as if they are hanging they all stand there arms wide in a pose, Of course it would be a lot to endure for any actor to hang by the arms for any length of time so I guess they have to just stand there on the useful block attached to the stipes.
Most of the loincloths are rubbish as well, a towel or a nice white newly laundered piece of sheet is not very convincing. The movies get this better by using a filthy looking subligaculum instead of a loincloth as in the Risen film.
