And here are a few more pictures; I thought to do just a few pictures of a condemned criminal being nailed because such scenes seem quite popular but this thing has taken on a life of it's own. Hope everyone enjoys.

This post is not part of the series and I intend to continue that next week.

911 and Taryn

I suppose I'd been working with Poser and on the web for about a year when I discovered a site where artists including Poser and other 3D artists could show their work. Although I can't remember where I saw the blurb I remember reading: "There are all kinds of neat pictures so hurry up and visit the site while it's still there."
I did and I enjoyed it, fortunately the advisory to "Hurry up" and visit while it was still there turned out to be somewhat less then prophetic because the site lasted for about two years. During that time any number of artists submitted work and for those of use who enjoy art for what it is as well as the emotions it might illicit it became a place to visit regularly.
In time I discovered some unusual work, comic book like in its quality, and in part that"s what attracted me. The works appeared under the title "Taryn" and they were pictures of a young woman with long blond hair going through the various stages of crucifixion. Later we learned that Taryn was in fact the model and her boyfriend had done the actual works.
First the site disappeared and the work "Taryn"would show up on other sites at intervals until the time of 9/11. Here in the States our world changed that day and it changed more then we understood at the time because Taryn worked in the Trade Center and lost her life when those buildings came down, as did so many others.
Only later did I learn why the pictures had stopped, and it made doubly painful. All artists hate to see the loss of a good model let alone to have one die so tragically as a pawn in a situation evolved from the demented imagination of some obscure hypocrite.
Know you are not forgotten and rest in peace Taryn,
Helmut

That's a lovely tribute, Helmut. Thanks!

I only knew Taryn through her posts at Crux Foundation, but was filled with sadness and a sense of personal loss after her demise. As you may appreciate, as a member of that community she was like "family". Her memory will never be disconnected from the events of that terrible day in my mind.

Thanks again.

Preceptor.

This notation was lost in the transfer to the new site. It said, in part, "Some oldies."

A multiple crucifixion, galley scene and a whipping.

Doesn't get much better than that!

Thanks!

GR

I think GR may need some new specs. That isn't a galley, it's Cambridge University's Goldie ....the new improved version. They hope to win the next boat race with it.

About a week ago I sent an E-mail to my good friend Apostate where in I explained to him that I've developed a physical disability that makes in difficult for me to use a computer and to do drawing and etc. Apostate, gentleman that he is, has agreed to over see my thread until such time as I can once more address my full attention to said thread and to the sort of artwork we all like.
There are those who quite naturally might ask what is wrong, and they would be perfectly justified in asking? I am however reluctant to say simply because in describing the nature of my disability I would provide an avenue for those who might wish to identify me to achieve some private goal. I don't think I/we do anything wrong here and we work hard to keep it that way. On the other hand there can be no doubt that we have people who join this site for the specific purpose of attempting to destroy it and or get to the individuals who make the site possible and that is why I would rather keep my identity secret.
To those of you who have concerns; expect me back around 1 November, I should be fine by then, and I'll begin posting again.
Best to you all,
Helmut

Hi Helmut,
I seriously doubt that anyone is out to get you any more than me or Jules. What is a cause for concern are the politically correct brigade who may well be on this site with the intention of taking it down. Let's assume for the sake of argument that there are three of them with different IP addresses. You are off ill, Inge_Tarant logs in regularly unless there is a big work committment, the same applies to Apostate. The last time hufkens logged in was Wed. Sep.3rd 2008 !! I.M. often logs in, but what if he's on a photoshoot. There may well be a week when the site is unprotected which is hardly difficult to spot. So villain A posts a story of a minor, raped, tortured and crucified. Villain B illustrates it and villain C gives support. One of A,B,C then switches IP address using a proxy server and requests come in for advice on real crucifiction. Advice is forthcoming. Sound familiar? Lots of screenshots are taken and sent to the appropriate authorities. So where is the emergency button?
On a different note, if I.M.is reading this, did you get my emails about Connie ? I don't think she is able to log in.
Get well soon Helmut.

Mel,
Although I must confess that I don't know why, there have been a number of occasions where you and I seem to have been at odds. The fact that you are concerned that the site might be running unprotected proves that your thoughts and concerns are for the well being of the site and it goes without saying that is a good thing. While I am incapacitated and unable to spend hours at the computer as I normally do, I am still able check my E-mail and check the latest posts. So while my posting activity might be curtailed because of a physical problem there is nothing wrong with my head or eyes and if action is necessary I will take it. However Apostate has assured me that since I can't be as active as I usually am he will be in here regularly.
If anyone sees something they believe to be illegal or offensive they need only contact one of the moderators. This does not necessarily mean that the moderators will agree the the material is offensive or illegal; this site has been around in one form or another for about 10 years and most of us have been here from the beginning. Also we don't always agree on everything so there are times when it becomes necessary Inge or IM to make the final decision.
Basically what I'm telling in you is to enjoy the site and try not to worry so much.
Best and highest regards,
Helmut

You're not fooling anyone, Helmut. We all know you got carpal tunnel syndrome as a result of constantly whacking-off to your own creations. You're just ashamed to admit it.

The truth is, someone wanting to learn the identities of the members could hack in & get our IP addresses. We really have to trust the security of the hosting site to protect us. Of course, we should all keep our identities secret & not give out too much personal info. But, the bigger threat would come from someone planting kiddie porn in order to get the site shut down. I have seen attempts to do that elsewhere.

Anyway, I'm glad to hear that you condition isn't going to be perminant & look forward to seein future contributions.
Get well soon.

Historical fact (courtasy Wikipedia): The first coffee shop in England opened in Oxford in 1650. Oxford's Queen's Lane Coffee House, est 1654, is still in operation. The first in London opened in 1652. The first in America opened in Boston in 1670.
Mel & Julie's shop is, of course, not a Starbucks. Based on the waitresses, it is more like a Scarredbutts.

Hi,
I see Naraku is back to his wicked best! I've never heard of carpal tunnel syndrome or "whacking off" for that matter but I would guess that it is an activity which could lead to blindness, mental instability and anaemia so be warned!
I think most sites make a note of your IP address to protect themselves. When we look for models you wouldn't believe the number of times some sexy girl pops up wanting sex in Sheffield. On the topic of IP addresses we had some trouble a while ago with a stalker. If you send an email your IP address is there but you can't see it. With Yahoo mail just click on "open full headers" in the bottom right hand corner. This gives all the detailed info which is normally hidden. Make a note of the "From" IP's. Feed the IP address into "Whatsmyipaddress.com" and a map will pop up with the senders location. I've tried it on us and it's accurate to about 2-3 miles . It always gets the country right and usually the town.
If there are any scarredbutts in our Coffee Shop you can blame GR for being too heavy handed. I didn't know we had coffee shops so long ago...you always learn something new when Naraku is around.
I've attached a pic of Naraku up to his usual wicked ways.

Hi Naraku,
I'm not sure that even if someone did acquire your IP address they could find out who you are. Obviously the FBI or Interpol working with your ISP could trace an IP to your computer but they only do that in the case of serious crime. When you log on to the internet you need an IP which is provided by your ISP. Often there may not be one free in your area so your ISP looks to other regions to find one free. This is called dynamic hosting as apposed to a static IP address. As a consequence when you leave the internet your IP will be given to someone else. This means that the first few numbers of your IP will stay the same indicating your country but some of the rest will change. I don't think there is any way your identity could be revealed without your ISP records. I don't want people to get spooked and not post on this site. It is perfectly safe. If I'm wrong I'd like further info.
