I'm starting to get a little worried.
The hour of reckoning is at hand.
But our wallet is only 50% full.
I think like an optimist.
Because the pessimist will say that the wallet is 50% empty.
And as an optimist, I hope that this weekend we will fill the wallet completely.
Thank you.

For every 10% I post a newly rendered image or two..
When 100% is reached I will post a new series

hope that helps the quest of funds for hosting

This weekend brought in another 10%.
The wallet is 60% full.
This is not enough to pay hosting bill in June.
I am concerned about this state of affairs.
If we do not raise funds, our hosting will be disabled.
I hope this doesn't happen.
Why do the same people have to donate the money for CF every time? Are we not enough members? Or can nobody in our forum afford these few dollars?
2. Donation for this month, $ 10.

I understand that twenty or thirty people like that is all that is needed for the entire month!

OK people, just because you don't know Latin: CruxForum Adiuvate means Support Cruxforum!

In fact, donations are made not only by regular donors.
There are also new ones.
But I would like the new ones to participate more actively in this process.
So far we have stopped at around 80%.
There was almost no time left for thinking.
Thank you.

Have you read what I said here ?

... By the beginning of a month this site's thermometer should be on 100%. If just 35 people out of the tens of thousands here donated the equivalent of $10 a month people could continue to enjoy the benefits of our free archive and all that goes with our free membership.

Yes, I'm OK with that but have the main contributors, creating so much work to illustrate the site , to pay when, like you say, some thousands of people are just coming to consume pics and stories without letting any "like" for the majority ?
Perhaps it could be more interesting to set up a paying membership ...

ImageMaker has always said that he would like to see the free membership of this site continue. I assume that TheDarkSpot is also funded mainly by donations. Perhaps we could copy what elcoyote does on that site. Somebody pointed out that it might be a good idea if he listed donors (but not the amount). As I understand it the donor gives permission for their screen name to be used as shown here..Screen Shot 06-08-21 at 02.23 PM.JPG He does this at the end of every month. What do people think? Would it encourage more people?

Personnaly, I'm not ready to let my name exposed like that ... In SL, for example, some sims are free, but others are paying to enter and so, to become a member with all the rigths that it is including ...
I do recognize that it's not suffiscient and a jarre is often exposed for donations ...
CruxWinds is doing like that and it does ...
... But CW is not CF : we are not much numerous at CW ...

I see myself as contributor with posting my original artwork, (renders and small stories alike) free of charge.
Dont have a creditcard or other means to send money, so my content has to suffice.

I want my number of views visible because many leechers will not bother to leave even a like.
At the darkspot, (non paying/non contibuting artist) have to make some kind of donation to see full sized pics
Maybe something like that could be implemented here?
That might weed out a large portion of the pure leeching free-loaders :)

That's my 2 cents

We have to ask if begging for donations every month is sustainable over the long term. I don't have any easy answer...

But, I think we have to look also at the cost side. Much of the bandwidth used by this site is taken up with:

1. Non-original artwork. I would venture to say that there are quite a lot of pics that have been posted many, many times on different threads. Some were first posted on this site, many were not. Even when done as thumbnails they occupy bandwidth. I get that someone may want to illustrate a point with a well-used pic, but why not link to the original, whether on another thread here or on another site.

2. There are quite a few threads that have long streams of pictures of naked porn stars or models. Look, I enjoy looking at naked women as much as the next guy or gal, but is that the real meat of CF? There are countless other sites where one can see those and if one really catches your fancy and you want to share it with members here, then you can post a link.

The policy here has always been that anyone can post as much as they like of whatever they like (with a few exceptions for legal reasons). In principle, that may be fine, but perhaps we are now running up against some practical limits to that. If it's limit what can be posted or the site going under, I prefer to see some limits.

I've donated quite a bit over the last few years, but I'm not sure how much longer I want to subsidize stuff that is taken from elsewhere. JMO...

Ummmm … I thought I might weigh in with a few personal thoughts. These are my thoughts as a member, not as a mod.

I have been a donator over the years and will continue to be one as long as I remain a member. But I don’t believe that cash donations should in any way be required of members. I value the diversity and openness of Forums membership to a wide variety of interested individuals, whatever their contributions … whether it be art, writing, monetary donations, commentary or simply appreciative viewing or commenting. I think I would be opposed to a conversion of the site to a paid membership only basis, and would probably leave if that were to be implemented.

I think it’s also important to keep in mind that Imagemaker has kept this site open and free to everyone for a good number of years almost exclusively with funding from his own sources, and it’s our present day changing world and economy that has prompted the recent need to seek more financial support from members.

And yes, I would agree that some of the material that appears is repetitive or marginal in quality or interest, but I hate to see the site constraining and censoring material beyond enforcing the guidelines set down in our rules. We all have different tastes, but let’s leave it to the staff to decide, as it already does, whether a particular line of postings or new threads are out of line and in need of policing.

Finally, I see nothing wrong with listing donors by screen name, with their permission, as a way of acknowledging their financial help. But if that were to be done, I would not want to see a monthly list, as some donors, like myself, give generously on an irregular or periodic basis rather than monthly. But again, any listing should appear as grateful acknowledgment along with recognition of the fact that members who contribute mainly their art and prose are making important contributions too.

I totally agree with you , Windar ! It's from a long time ago that I think that a too much great part of what it is posting here has nothing to do !
We're not a porn'site , and not a "new" erotical catalog ...
We have to stay into our limits, into what our site'tittle is made ...

1. Non-original artwork. I would venture to say that there are quite a lot of pics that have been posted many, many times on different threads.
I agree too , too much of what is posted is so much known ! I can understand that a new member wants to show what is his affinity ( I did by the past and apologize for that ...)...
Then, if there is no interest to post for the umpteenth the same pics, avoid to do ...
But perhaps it could be the rôle of the mods to gently inform the new members desiring to post these kind of pics ...
