Linda was charged with adultery, which could have gotten her publicly whipped. The charges didn't stick, but she was nonetheless convicted of indecent exposure. The judge lectured her, saying that if she wants to indecently expose herself, she can do so in front o everyone, so he sentenced her to spend an hour in the public pillory stripped to the waist.
