INTERROGATION

That's the problem with torture. You can never be sure that the confession is true.
We don't want to condemn an innocent person, do we?
We have to take her and torture her to make her confess that the torture was extorted.
If she resists, we know she told the truth.
But if she confesses, we know she is willing to lie under torture, so she may have lied about lying. So we have to torture her again, but then there's the same problem... and it has to go on endlessly...

In this fascist state it’s apparently wrong
For a girl to be caught wearing a red thong
So it’s under arrest
My politics to test

I fear that they’ll break me before very long
A red thong.... she must be a communist, make her talk, and after that make her disappear.

:devil2: Not my problem.

We don't want to condemn an innocent person, do we?
:devil2: Well... shit happens.

We have to take her and torture her to make her confess that the torture was extorted.
:devil2: Ok.

If she resists, we know she told the truth.
But if she confesses, we know she is willing to lie under torture, so she may have lied about lying. So we have to torture her again, but then there's the same problem... and it has to go on endlessly...
:devil2: Dungeon logic made perfectly clear.

You are looking at this in entirely the wrong way. If we are interrogating her, she must be guilty. Now we just have to determine what she is guilty of.

And of course we don't want to condemn an innocent person, but again, by definition if they are in the dungeon being tortured interrogated, guilt is assured already.

Who cares if she told the truth? You are presuming we care. But under a regime where torture enhanced interrogation is reasonable, the truth doesn't matter.

It will go on endlessly, but not because she confessed, or didn't confess, lied or told the truth. It will go on endlessly because we want to ensure full employment for our torturers.
