Although she was considered one of the most controversial women of her time, her personality has always arisen great interest both of scholars and common people including myself. May I add a personal detail as an additional motivation for my interest : the town of Alexandria where she lived is also my birth place. I viewed the Spanish movie 'AGORA' ,treating the episodes of
Hypatia's life , 3 times. I think that you have seen this movie too. As you probably are already aware of, Hypatia is the only female figure showing on Raphael's fresco 'The School of Athens' (1509-1511) (Papal Palace, Stanza della Segnatura, Vatican City).
