perhaps I've had a drop too much of the left-over Christmas wine,
but when I first looked at that thumbnail,
I thought 'long-legged girl in a frilly white skirt,
bending over to scrub the deck' :confused:
Well, I suppose on CF that's more what I'd expect! :D​
 
In 1869, the Company was renamed The Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company, commemorating the first transcontinental railroad. In 1936, A&P became the first national supermarket chain in the United States, one of many innovative concepts that radically changed the way consumers shopped. Its vast advertising and promotional activities reached so many consumers that A&P became an American icon.


In resent years with the Cosmo Girls feeling less and less understood ...

The Coffee Shops were born.


Dress down Fridays lost there meaning and it was a return to the Victorian.

Girls wanted only to serve and not wear paper hats in retail fast food outlets.

They secretly longed for a more rewarding place.

Plastic lids were replaced with double shots.

The pace was overwhelming!

The grind of the work and constant torment of the day.

It has always been ... a sip of warm tea for me.

I didn't take any photos during the day but I wandered about with my notepad jotting down things I heard people say. Typical English so my apologies to those for whom English is not their native tongue. I'll bet everyone can attribute these quotes to forum members:
In the kitchen:
Smother the butter all over the breasts.
Stuff it up between the legs as far as it will go.
Tying the legs together keeps the inside moist.
How long will it take after you put it in?
You'll know it's ready when it pops up.
As the guests arrived:
