and no new oil sheikWhichever way it goes, it's going to be close,
neither side should start jumping about in triumph,
it will be a test of statesmanship for all our political leaders.
Cant say Im surprised. Murray always seemed very Scottish to me and you could tell he rankled under the "english" pressure to win Wimbledon. Though getting the Queen "not amused" at you could be bad for your health...in case the laive o ye er wunnerin

If only the UCI would take some notes....In other news from Scotland the Royal and Ancient Golf Club finally managed to catch up the 20th century shame it is the 21st but well done them, with women members they now have a fighting chance of making into this century before 2099
BBC article on vote to allow women members
If only the UCI would take some notes....
Indeed cycling gets a dishonourable mention in another BBC article on remaining bastions of sexism in sport
Is Sport Sexist?
Maybe the BBC could lead the way in televising more women's cycling?
And can you even watch women's cyclocross?

YES!! On the UCI youtube channel they stream it live and have full replays up. It's also covered by Sporza though Im not sure what gets through to the UK. And here is an American grassroots production that is fabulous and shows how we do cross. Ive selected this sample episode for you because it contains some good video of my team!Maybe the BBC could lead the way in televising more women's cycling?

It was an exciting day in Scotland yesterday, a real buzz -
as soon as I went outside, my neighbours, instead of the usual 'hoo're ye daein?'
were asking 'hae ye voted yet?'
The 85% turnout was magnificent, and it came at the end of three years
of hard thinking (yes, your Majesty, we did )
and vigorous discussion - aye, we luve a guid stushie,
but on the whole, it was good-humoured,
and it certainly got us all focused on questions of what Scotland means to us,
what's special about being Scottish? what is, or should be, our place in the world?
Thanks to several people who've sent good wishes -
for the record, I voted 'Yes', but I'm quite content with the way things have turned out,
as I said in a post above, the politicians are now going to have to put party squabbles behind them
and take seriously not just the clear demand for a new status for Scotland within the UK,
but a whole range of questions about the governance of England,
and the role of Westminster in relation to the four national governments.
And in the end, for me, nationhood isn't a matter of politics,
it's a question of how we see ourselves, how relate to the land, languages and cultures in which we have our roots.
Eulalia's happy to be a Gallowegian, a Scot, a Briton, a European, a citizen of the World!

...let's hope Sir Wragg isn't vindictive and decide to take vengeance again the some Scottish girls secreted to the dungeon in his abbey
...the turnout was truly amazing. I think if the 'yes' side had a more detailed plan (at least as covered on the web and US press) of how things would progress had it succeeded the vote would have been closer or even succeeded.
Funny thing the US Constitution was not ratified until more than a dozen years after the Declaration of Independence....

Sir Wragg is more likely to issue Glenfiddich all round
Sir Wragg has got McIntyre blood in his veins, grandparents from Aberdeen! I'd have voted 'yes' but for the small matter of living three hundred miles on the wrong side of the border.
There is no meal to beat Haggis, Neeps, and Tatties....

so far away and no oil-poundsBarb has some Scottish blood too, and would have perhaps voted "yes" were it not for the small matters of quite a few generations removed and 3,750 miles.
