And if WWII happened with my current president and secretary of state in office the mission would have never happened. Instead we would have negotiated with Hitler and after he promised not to build a nuclear bomb for 10 years lift all sanctions and allow American firms to build big ovens for him...:mad::mad::mad:

If members disagreed with your opinion, they answer and we could have an unpleasant debate about political views.
Recently they deleted a thread that I had created to mention a politician, without any opinion, but your comment is insulting about Mr. Obama.
You have a political ideas, I others, Naraku other, etc. Better not argue about it.

Bruce Springsteen's album was released 40 years ago today.

Tree really owned his 1966 'egg-shell' blue Mustang coupe; a factory four-barrel four speed 289 cu v-8 (car folks will understand this), with an AM radio and no air conditioning. The first modification was an under-dash slide mount so I could put either the CB radio or my Pioneer Supertuner in. It only had FM and an auto-reverse cassette player (you could still get 8-track but Tree is cutting edge:doh:).

The Citizens Band radio was necessary as I lived in Kansas City, Mo and my girlfriend lived in St. Louis and the speed limit was 55 MPH and I thought that was the minimum:devil:.
The next year I put another engine, another 289, built by students at a trade school. It had 375 HP, 155 HP more than the stock engine. Tree can poop more than this car weighed. I managed to blow up the 9" rear end in '78 and parked it.

It went through five moves, one marriage, and still sits in the Tree estate garage. I'd finish it but Siss and Barb can't wait to roll it into a ball of wrecked steel...

Wendy let me in I wanna be your friend
I want to guard your dreams and visions

Just wrap your legs round these velvet rims
And strap your hands across my engines
Together we could break this trap
Well run till we drop, baby well never go back

Will you walk with me out on the wire
`Cause baby I'm just a scared and lonely rider

But I gotta find out how it feels
I want to know if love is wild, girl I want to know if love is real

...favorite verse... surprised???

Holy cow, I can not believe it has been 40 years since "Born to Run" was released.
My favorite verse:

"The highway's jammed with broken heroes on a last chance power drive
Everybody's out on the run tonight
But there's no place left to hide
Together Wendy we can live with the sadness
I'll love you with all the madness in my soul
H-Oh, Someday girl I don't know when
We're gonna get to that place
Where we really wanna go
And we'll walk in the sun
But till then tramps like us
Baby we were born to run"

Great song! Nice story about the 1966 Mustang Tree.

All true too. The fastest I have been on this earth was around 160 MPH south on I-55 near Cape Girardeau with a 10 year old Mustang with Dunlop radials on the front and Montgomery Ward 60 series bias belted tires in back and four-wheel drum breaks. Truly, the gods saved me to persecute the women of CF...

You are bringing back memories of the summer of 1975. I cut grass around the neighborhood for spending money. After I made enough money, I would ride my 10 speed bike to the neighborhood record store that was about a mile away ( I was too young to drive). The store was named "Sounds Out West". I still remember the albums I bought that summer, and I still have them. I picked up "Born To Run", Deep Purple "Burn", Led Zep's "Physical Graffiti" and Jethro Tull's "Living In The Past". My best friend, and he still is, was a huge Bruce Springsteen fan who got me into Bruce's music that summer:).....those were the days, or as Bruce sang later, those were Glory Days:devil:

NOT 'PEACHES'?!?!?!

NOT 'PEACHES'?!?!?!
There was a Peaches, but it was too far away for riding a bike. I started to go there after I was able to drive. Believe me, I spent a ton on records at Peaches. I still have two rare imported colored vinyl Deep Purple albums that I purchased at Peaches back then. I recently priced them on a record collector site, and they are worth a lot of money. Who knew when I bought them years ago that they would be worth something. I even still have two Peaches album crates to store albums in, that I bought years ago. Peaches was a great store.

Yogi Berra... RIP
:amen: Tree. The greatest catcher of all time...appeared in 14 World Series....won 10 World Series....15 times was an All Star...etc.
And a native son of St Louis - hence Tree's respect.

And, a great philosopher:
"Baseball is 90 percent mental and the other half is physical".
"If the world were perfect, it wouldn't be."
"If you don't know where you're going, you might not get there"
"It ain't over 'til it's over."
"
You can observe a lot by watching."

Most appropriately:"Always go to other people's funerals; otherwise they won't go to yours."
