I'm working on some of our sites, setting up more promo material about our films.

We're entering the pre production face for new films, we're producing a few and a few more are in post... but we have a lot in distribution. One of those great films is Olalla. Here a little about that film.

Olalla, a film by Amy Hesketh

The provocative film by Amy Hesketh, based in the story by Robert Louis Stevenson, tells the story of a gothic and decadent family of genetic vampires who need human blood to survive and prolong their lives, and where incest is the only way to maintain the family line. They don’t mix with the outside world and when they do the consequences can be disastrous.

OlallaVidCaps01074201.jpg

The film centers in the avatars of Olalla, her daughters, Olalla and Ofelia and her brother Felipe. Both, Olalla the mother and Olalla the daughter, both interpreted by Amy Hesketh, are somewhat fractious, they can’t control their impulses thus endangering the entire family.

Hesketh starts her story where Stevenson’s ends. A new guest arrives to the family’s hacienda starting a struggle for the attentions of Olalla between the new comer and Felipe, the vampire’s brother. Olalla sinks deeply in her madness and unable to control her tenebrous instincts, first attacks Roberto, the guest, and soon after the village’s priest. That act is the last straw for the terrified villagers who storm the hacienda, capture Olalla, tying her to a cross, whipping her and burning her alive.

OlallaVidCaps01291618.jpg

A century later, the surviving daughters, Olalla y Ofelia, genetic vampires age very slowly, live isolated from the world around them, staying away from any danger. When Olalla, seeking a normal life, moves away from her family, finds a lover, but can’t help herself from killing him, placing herself and her family in danger.

Ofelia calls uncle Felipe who attempts to teach a hard lesson to Olalla, punishing her for her transgressions. Will Felipe be able to control Olalla and thus save the family? Or will he eliminate her, as Ofelia insists?

Justine (2016)

Justine_Title.jpg

Justine, your prison was my kingdom come.” –

Virgin Steele

Were it not for Jess Franco, I probably would not have had even a passing interest in the writings of eighteenth century troublemaker Marquis de Sade, Donatien Alphonse Franҫois, but thanks to Franco films like Marquis de Sade’s Justine (1969), Eugenie (1970), Eugenie de Sade (1973), and this prominent S&M aesthetic very much characteristic to a lot of Franco’s films (as well as Renato Polselli’s), it was only a matter of time before I would wonder: “why the hell am I not reading de Sade?”. Reading a book by de Sade had been on my bucket list for a good six or seven years. (It didn’t help that I was partially turned off by de Sade after watching Pier Paolo Passolini’s Salo or the 120 Days of Sodom (1975) due to the film’s shocking depictions of cruelty and grossness that the Jess Franco films rarely reached).

Well, I finally read my first de Sade novel, recently, titled Justine, or The Misfortunes of Virtue (1791), and it was all kinds of fucked up. It was cruel, disgusting, evil, sickeningly disagreeable… And I could hardly put it down. I won’t go as far as to call it a horror novel, but a lot of the sadists poor Justine encounters are outright terrifying, especially the head-cutter character. De Sade seemed to pull no punches. He morally outraged to the extreme and probably intended to.

JustineVidCaps00012622-1024x576.jpg

While reading Justine, I would always hope for the perpetually imprisoned and tortured Justine to get saved by someone (or at least administer some serious payback, rape-revenge style), but there are absolutely no heroes in this tale, and whenever a faint hope or relief presents itself, Justine is always thrown right back into another wretched situation, almost always managing to top the one before it in cruelty and harshness. Justine is de Sade’s creation to relentlessly torture physically as well as intellectually for her steadfast loyalty to virtue and religion, as de Sade’s sadistic libertine villains tended to debate with Justine and give long winded manifesto-like speeches generally in support of the story’s atheistic thesis involving the innateness of evil in nature and providence rewarding vice and punishing virtue in a corrupt and godless world. I was starting to worry a little that the book might have been desensitizing me and tapping into a heretofore unrealized evil side to myself. To counteract this, I felt I should instead try reading something with heroes in it or something that goes in a complete opposite masochistic direction like Leopold von Sacher-Masoch’s Venus in Furs (1870).

JustineVidCaps00081020-1024x576.jpg

The movie Quills (2000), with Geoffrey Rush as the Marquis de Sade, helped me understand a little more about what it was that I liked about de Sade. I admire the way he didn’t hold back as a writer in the eighteenth century who could shock and appall more than any other writer that I’m familiar with. I feel his writing exposes a certain truth that lurks beneath society. De Sade chose to expose the beast rather than forget about it. I can’t help thinking that the socially powerful sadists in de Sade’s stories are the same kind of people who would feign morality to the public and who would likewise persecute de Sade and his writing on the pretext of indecency, when really it was because he was exposing them. He also happened to have been a really good writer.

JustineVidCaps00113409sm.jpg

Like many enduring works of literature, Justine has been adapted to the screen more than once. The aforementioned Marquis de Sade’s Justine, with Romina Power as Justine,is a good Jess Franco film that brings an interesting angle to the story by framing it around Marquis de Sade (played by Klaus Kinski) writing the story from prison and being haunted in a way by Justine. This version is also notable for Jack Palance’s batshit insane portrayal of Antonin, a leader of a brotherhood of monks who pursue pleasure above all things. Justine de Sade from 1972, with Alice Arno as Justine, is an impressively faithful adaptation, in that it somehow manages to squeeze almost the entire book near-verbatim into its one-hour and fifty-five-minute run time. Cruel Passions, with Koo Stark as Justine, from 1977 modifies the story while also remaining faithful to the spirit of de Sade’s writing and really does a nice job at building new ideas from the book. Among all of the classic literary figures making an appearance in the deliciously gothic TV series Penny Dreadful, Justine, played by Jessica Barden, makes an exciting appearance in season 3, and it’s a very different take, where Justine eventually gives in to vice and starts to resemble more her corrupt murderess sister Juliette. (de Sade also wrote a massively epic book, based on Justine’s sister, Juliette (1797) that surpasses TheLord of the Rings trilogy in length).

JustineVidCaps00150015sm.jpg

There is a Bolivian Justine film from 2016 written, directed, edited, and co-produced by Jac Avila who also stars in it as the sadist Rodin. Avila’sJustine nearly escaped my notice since it never came up when I was searching for Justine films online. I accidentally came across the trailer on YouTube. I was sold on the trailer and the tagline “A FILM MORE SADISTIC THAN DE SADE HIMSELF”, a tagline that unfortunately is not true (it’s sadistic but does not dethrone the master), but this version does give us a terrific Justine, played by Amy Hesketh who also co-produced the film.

JustineVidCaps00205002sm.jpg

Avila’s Justine seems to me to meld de Sade’sJustine with The Passion of the Christ (2004) and commits wholly to the sadism element by mostly being a collection of prolonged torture sequences that are convincing and hard to watch. This does also inevitably result in a certain level of monotony at times, but the sets are always so creative and interesting, and the performances are so spirited, that this ends up being forgivable. In fact, it’s a little like watching a Jess Franco film at times (that’s a good thing here), with how hypnotic some of the prolonged, repetitious nude torture scenes can be. The dungeon torture scene to Jean Rollin’s Requiem for a Vampire (1971) also comes to mind.

JustineVidCaps00213310-1024x576.jpg

JustineVidCaps00232119-1024x576.jpg

The proceedings are off to an especially unnerving and brutal start with the wrongfully convicted Justine being tied up and publicly punished with fifty lashes of the executioner’s cat o’ nine tails whip that are counted off one by one by an aristocratic audience over a very dramatic and doomy theme composed by Kevin Hatton, and it is a slow and painful fifty lashes. At around the thirty-sixth lash, Justine passes out from the pain. Seeing this, the executioner wakes her with a rudely administered splash of water to her face before recommencing the punishment. The film maintains this unpleasant tone throughout its duration without ever really letting up.

JustineVidCaps00250521-1024x576.jpg

One of the aristocrats viewing Justine’s punishment from the crowd is Justine’s sister Juliette (Cortney Willis), although neither one of them realizes it yet (they were separated when they were very young after their parents died). While Justine is publicly displayed in a pillory, she recounts to Juliette her misfortunate life and how she came to her present situation. During the flashback/backstory scenes, Justine will frequently stop what she is doing to look into the camera and narrate to viewers. I had mixed feelings on this at first since the peculiar narrative technique kind of took me out of it and would seem a little unintentionally funny or even almost a little cute at times. But it’s also appropriate since, like in the book, Justine is telling the story to her sister. I got used to it and grew to love it on re-watches.

JustineVidCaps00280305sm.jpg

The dungeon torture set piece involving a spinning wheel gets a lot of play. Justine and her fellow captive maidens, Rosalie (Mila Joya) and Omphale (Beatriz Rivera), each get a turn to be spun on the wheel-of-torture while being whipped by Rodin, which does kind of feel like repetitive padding at times. It’s a cool idea, but it might’ve been milked too much here. I did really like the innovative Argento-like camera work, where a camera is attached to the spinning wheel for a really cool effect. It also looked like a lot of fun for the actors. (There are a couple behind-the-scenes videos on YouTube of everyone having a blast while testing out the wheel.)

JustineVidCaps00305712-1024x576.jpg

Amy Hesketh gives it her all as Justine, particularly during the torture scenes. She is so good at showing emotion. With each crack of the whip, her screams and cries effectively sell a sense of legitimate pain and anguish to viewers. Her facial expressions also portray the fear and misery that would be required for a character with as wretched of an existence as Justine. (Note: Amy Hesketh is also a producer, director, and writer who has made a number of interesting looking horror films with Jac Avila, such as Bluebeard (2012), Dead but Dreaming (2013), and Olalla (2015), that I’m interested in checking out).

JustineVidCaps00340320-1024x576.jpg

The actors playing Rosalie (Joya) and Omphale (Rivera) also gracefully act the hell out of their roles as tortured and wrongfully persecuted prisoners of Rodin alongside Justine. Between torture sessions the three women provide bedside comfort to one another in order to recover enough before the libertine monster they serve puts them through the gamut of torment and abuse all over again. They form a certain kinship, like sisters who are in it together.

Jac Avila’s portrayal of Rodin is kind of how I envisioned him in the book: very cold, straight-faced, and libertine. He also acts like a teacher to Justine, explaining his thoughts and meanings behind the torture sessions.

JustineVidCaps00380822sm.jpg

Jac Avila’s Justine does have a few unique directions while essentially recounting the central story of de Sade’s Justine but focusing less on de Sade’s heavy contrast of vice and virtue in favor of a passion play and relating pain and punishment more to biblical themes, with a female Christ who is suffering and dying for nothing (aside from her tormentors’ amusement).

JustineVidCaps01181014-1024x576.jpg

A lot of episodes from the book are essentially condensed down to Rodin’s torture dungeon in this film, with Rodin himself pretty much personifying the plethora of rapists and libertine scoundrels poor Justine has to deal with throughout the book. Avila creates his own torture scenarios, recreating very little from the book, relishing heavily in repetitive whip lashing and realistic skin markings. Nude figures full of gashed and marked up skin is a major motif here.

JustineVidCaps01222300sm.jpg

As someone just coming off of the book, I found Avila’sJustine to be a worthwhile experience filled with disturbing violent imagery that also in its own way manages to be beautiful, particularly in the way it is framed and filmed by cinematographer Miguel Inti Canedo and edited by Avila. Plus, it is nice to have a modern Justine film to round out the collection of available Justine films, which are mostly from the ‘60s and ‘70s. Even though the movie is chock-full of de Sadean torture, once you get accustomed to it, you’ll notice there’s also something kind of hypnotic and moody about it, which might have a lot to do with Hatton’s mind-altering soundtrack. It can be an enlightening experience, but more for those who might understand de Sade more, otherwise you’ll likely wonder what the fuck this shit is you’re watching.

Crucified Four

CruXbound-IV_1638_00034313-1024x576.jpg

The Crucified Four (Working Title) will be a series of four films that are connected by characters that play crucial roles in each separate story. The stories take place at around the same period of time, perhaps separated by days, or weeks.

The first story is dedicated to TAIA, a Runaway Slave, who is caught stealing some bread; she’s captured by passing Roman soldiers who decide to give her a lesson for her crime on the spot. As the soldiers prepare to whip her, pulling the top of her garment down, they notice she has the mark of a slave and decide to take her to the barracks to keep her while they look for her owners.

The Centurion in charge takes the slave to his quarters in the barracks with the clear intention to have his way with her. Taia tries to defend herself and in the process she kills him, accidentally. The guards hear the screams of the dying man, rush in and find the death man and Taia, the ‘perpetrador‘, holding a bloody weapon in her hands, her torn garments are also bloody.

Taia is taken away to Hadrian, the Governor, who is accompanied by his young and beautiful wife Sabina and next to him, Saturninus, the second in command, also accompanied by his wife, a young, beautiful, and rich Roman matron of high birth named Paulina.

The scared Taia is accused of being a thief, a runaway slave and a murderess, and what is worse, she just killed a brave centurion. The Governor sentences the young woman to suffer one separate and different crucifixion for each of the crimes.

CruXbound-I_00023021-1024x576.jpg

Other characters are introduced in Taia’s story: Ide an Egyptian Priestess. She first appears when the slave is captured and later, when the condemned woman is suffering the torture of the cross. Ide offers to pay the Romans to spare the poor slave so much suffering by hastening her death on the cross; but the commander, a man named Decius Mundus, does not accept her money.

Taia suffers her complete sentence of three consecutive crucifixions, each a lot harsher than the previous one. When the sentence is completed and the slave is left to die alone, if she’s not dead already, a soldier stays behind to watch her.

Talissa, the Warrior, who was seen at the beginning and at many points of the story, always covered from head to toe, takes over the scene. The woman pulls her cape off, she’s dressed as a warrior, she has a sword. Talissa quickly jumps at the soldier and kills him, and then stabs Taia to make sure she’s dead.

In the second story, Ide, the Egyptian Priestess gets the attention Decius, the Roman who was commanding the crucifixion of Taia.

Ide learns that Decius is smitten by Paulina. Ide tells Decius that she can get him to sleep with the beautiful, powerful, Paulina, who rejected the roman commander in humiliating ways.

Ide manipulates Paulina, who is devotee of Isis and Anubis, to participate in a ceremony where Decius pretends to be Anubis and makes love to Paulina. When Paulina learns of what really happened, she has Ide tortured and sentenced to die on the cross and gets Decius to be sent in exile.

Paulina herself tortures the crucified Ide after she’s nailed to her cross and before she’s raised to be place on a horribly painful Cornu.

Ide is left to die alone, and that’s when Talissa, the Warrior, appears again and kills a Roman or two who stay to guard the Priestess, after she completes her task, she then follows Decius who is on his way to exile for his bad deeds.

SeditiosaDialogues01_00274505-1024x576.jpg

The third story begins when Talissa attacks Decius, who at first seems to be alone. Talissa gives the chance to Decius to defend himself. They fight furiously, Talissa has the upper hand, but suddenly a few Roman soldiers appear, one of them shots an arrow at Tallissa. The warrior is then subdued and dragged away. Decius sees the capture of the infamous warrior, killer of Roman soldiers, Talissa, as a way of getting back the favor of the Governor.

The Romans are particularly angry at Talissa, for obvious reasons, so before bringing her to Hadrian for sentencing, they beat and torture her.

Talissa is then sentenced to be slowly tortured to death on the cross.

She’s dragged out naked, beaten. She’s nailed to her Patibulum and her torturous sentence begins.

CruxBoundIII_00102301-1024x576.jpg

But the stories do not end there. Paulina is a conniving woman. She wants Saturninus, her husband, to become Governor, so she plots to kill Hadrian, the ruling governor, and put the blame on Sabina, his pretty and young wife, for the crime.

Hadrian, the governor is poisoned. The servant that took the poisoned wine to him is tortured until she confesses that her mistress, Sabina, gave her the wine and ordered her to do the deed.

Sabina is dragged out of her palace, stripped and sentenced to die on the cross.

CruXBound-IV_00364106-1024x576.jpg

Those are the basic story lines for the four, interconnected, Roman Crucifixion stories.

The work Jac and the actresses are involved in right now is the CruXbound movies; however, I heard rumors that they might be already preparing to shoot the Crucified Four (Working Title) movies for next month!

But those are rumors in need of confirmation by the powers that be… that means Jac and the four CruXbound ladies. All four of them appear in Seditiosa, of course.

Curious - is Sabina's servent who confessed to giving the poison crucified with/next to Sabina? If so, would have a great opportunity for on the cross dialogue between the two where the servant asks for forgiveness. If not, she could come to the base of the cross and do the same, and/or Paulina show up and tell Sabina what her plan was.

In short, is there any plan to have any dialogue from from the cross?

The Script is being written. What I heard about Sabina's crucifixion is that the servant will be punished as Sabina suffers the agony of her crucifixion. I don't have the details, but when Sabina is upon her cross, perhaps sitting on a Cornu, the tortured servant is brought to her. A chain or something is set around Sabina's waist, the servant is chained by her wrists to that chain and scourged. The servant tries to stay on her feet, so as not to cause more suffering to Sabina, but the harsh punishment makes her loose her footing until she's practically suspended from Sabina's waist.

There will be some exchange when all this happens, I believe.

That's what I learned about the not yet completed scripts.

I'll have more news as the work on the projects advance.

CruXbound IV – A rehearsal

CruXBound-IV_02173408-1024x576.jpg

These days are really hot in La Paz. The kind of weather that it is not natural when you are up at 16,000 feet above sea level, where oxygen is not in normal quantities and where winter is sunny, summer is rainy and sometimes cold. We’re not even in summer, and yet it is hot, and it is not normal.

When Simonne arrived a few days ago to do some work for CruXbound IV, Jac was not feeling very well. He was sweaty, not in a good mood, and dreading the thought of doing any physical work involving lifting things, setting up cameras, all in a dark room with the windows closed and hot, really hot lights… not something one wishes to do on a hot not yet summer afternoon and yet…

CruXBound-IV_01253023-1024x576.jpg

The room used as a set was not as hot as the huge living quarters Jac uses as his bedroom, office, living room, dining room, cats playground, movie house… etc. It was a bit of a relief that they were not going to dehydrate in seconds.

Jac had some ideas about what happens to Simonne after the flogging sequence they did a few days ago. She was suspended from a chain suffering the whipping. Very intense.

One of Jac’s ideas was using the ladder in the way he used it with Mila in CruXtreme IV – Roommate II.

With Simonne’s help Jac set up the ladder on top of that contraption Amy designed for Maleficarum. After setting it up, Jac explained to Simonne what they were going to do. I’ll set you up on top of this and you’ll be whipped without mercy… he said with that threatening but soft voice he used in Barbazul.

CruXBound-IV_01263505-1024x576.jpg

Things were not going smoothly, but it was only a rehearsal, the daring pair had to figure out how to do the work as dramatic as it should be without causing too much pain and discomfort to Simonne, the heroine/victim in the set.

Simonne was not unaware of the consequences of working in Jac’s films. She suffered merciless torture, whipping and crucifixion in Monxa Mala, she was publicly flogged and made to walk carrying her patibulum and then nailed to it, raised up to suffer the agony of the cross and if that wasn’t enough, she was scourged while on the cross in Seditiosa. And not on a hot day.

Simonne knows what is expected of her, she knew it wasn’t going to be a walk in the park and that it was going to hurt.

CruXBound-IV_01270712-1024x576.jpg

Simonne felt the hard, uneven wood under her ribs and hips, it was painful, but somewhat bearable; but it was only the beginning.

Jac was fussing with the ropes when he was tying her up, not an easy task when you’re not feeling comfortable in your own body, when your t-shirt feels like a damp cloth and your neck seems made out of water. Simonne was lucky she was practically naked.

After tying her up, Jac went to look for the flogger, the whip, the one Amy designed for Justine, with the sticky parts meant to cut the skin to shreds. Simonne got ready, she knows how that whip feels. It was used on her a lot in two movies. The flogging began.

CruXBound-IV_01273521-1024x576.jpg

Simonne took the first part of the whipping very well. The camera was set up in one angle for the rehearsal, and there were no plans to do anything more involved than that.

Jac had some ideas for that particular sequence. First his victim was going to be flogged facing down on the ladder, her back being the center of attention, her flesh lashed to bloody shreds.

After the long and cruel scourging, she was going to be turn around, face up, and flogged some more, this time her belly, breasts, legs, receiving the harsh treatment of the lash.

CruXBound-IV_01292606-1024x576.jpg

After completing his first task of whipping Simonne’s back for a bit, Jac was ready to do the front.

He turned Simonne around, tied her wrists, cross like and proceeded to use the whip on her. He had a great view of Simonne’s body facing up. The camera didn’t.

This time Simonne’s ribs and hips took a break but her whole back was now suffering the harsh surface of the uneven logs. The camera remained in the same position.

CruXBound-IV_01302904-1024x576.jpg

Once Jac whipped Simonne enough for what he intended to try, he felt he could move to his next idea, turning Simonne upside down, securing her ankles to the sides of the ladder, a difficult task that involved a lot of grabbing, lifting, holding, under the hot lights while the sweat from his neck made his t-shirt even more damp… but he did get into it with not so well hidden delight.

Once Simonne was upside down, Jac fussed a bit with a rope to tie her wrists to the sides of a crossbar. After completing this most complicated task Jac was ready to continue with his cruel tortures.

CruXBound-IV_01335516-1024x576.jpg

Simonne was all set in that most uncomfortable and painful of positions and Jac was done making sure she was going to be secure on that ladder.

Jac took the whip to continue whipping her.

Simonne felt her body was pulling on her binds, she was feeling the pressure of the leather binds on her ankles as her feet went numb. Her mind left her ankles when the hard lashes of the whip crashed on her chest, her breasts, her belly, her crutch, over and over and over.

Jac decided to move the camera a bit to get a good look of Simonne suffering her new torture.

CruXBound-IV_01364309-1024x576.jpg

After Jac was done punishing Simonne with the flogger, he decided that it was enough for the day. He was satisfied with the certainty that his plan will work.

Simonne suffered enough, she passed the endurance test she was subjected to and was ready to be released, she was also in a bit of a hurry.

As Jac took off Simonne’s binds he explained that they were going to work on those two or three sequences next time they get together, not a rehearsal, the real thing with each position they tried lasting a long time.

The first day they were going to concentrate on mostly the shots of her back receiving the bloody torture of the scourge as she faced down the ladder. If there was time, they were going to move into the next part of the sequence, when Simonne is turned around to be flogged more.

Once completed those two sequences, they were going to put Simonne upside down to be flogged more. He also told Simonne that after tying her wrists to the crossbar, he was planning to nail her hands, or wrists, to the wood.

CruXBound-IV_01390704-1024x576.jpg

The day was done. It was early still, but Simonne had things to do so that concluded the rehearsal. All of it was recorded for posterity and we’ll be sharing it with this post at our Patreon site, as part of our fundraising campaign for the next few movies. And I say movies because Jac is working on these 4 CruXbound movies with Simonne, Ligia, Dani and Mila, which will be followed by the epic series The Crucified Four. That’s 8 MOVIES!

Help us get these projects done by becoming a VIP Patron and enjoy all the video clips we’ll be sharing of the progress of all these films, like the one described in this post.

A new post is coming, this time about Carmen, aka Camille and it will include a video clip never seen before. It is actually one of the very first videos she ever made as she prepared for her role in the TV mini series The Man From The Moon. When that early video was made, Jac shot the stills he needed for the poster aka key art for the release of the series.

Margot, longtime customer here, different username, same avatar, I have purchased almost all of your films over 20 odd years. Seditiosa was fantastic, I have watched many times. But I will never understand why all three of the condemned weren't stripped naked, each to suffer equally humiliated on their crosses. And if only they were stripped naked at scourging, with fronts and backs of their thighs whipped as bloody as their backsides, enforced to drag their crosses naked to Golgotha for execution, I would likely watch no other film for the next two or possibly three years!!! :jump1:

30 Years!

ElHombreDeLaLunaV01_18271127-1024x768.jpg

An unlikely title you say?

Here’s the story. A few nights ago… a Thursday night actually… Jac went to bed at his usual, after midnight, a nightly event full of activities that are mostly cat related. He had a long day, with a lot of things he had to do, so he was tired. After a bit of fussing with the pillows and struggling to settle in a space not occupied by cats, he finally fell asleep. At around 3 am his Whatsaap started announcing he was getting messages, the classic alarming ring woke Jac up, a bit. He was’t going to look at his cell, no seri, but he did, it was a number, no name, but he could read that the messages were in Spanish… there was one phrase that he thought identified Veronique: “Como es?” and something about having problems finding plane tickets to Bolivia. One last line was kind of weird in a funny way It was your birthday! 80!!!

WhatsAppScreenshot-20241023.png

Jac decided he was going to read the intriguing messages and respond to them sometime in the day, after his morning coffee. He went back to sleep. He dreamt of Veronique who was telling him that she wanted to travel to Bolivia, with her boyfriend, sometime soon. The funny part is that she was with him in the dream, in Bolivia, telling him she wanted to travel to Bolivia. The boyfriend was also in his dream, no one he knew. Weird. Then the phone rang! He woke up again.

He answered the phone, it was Carmen! aka Camille!… it was four in the morning! “Were you sleeping?” Carmen said when she heard Jac’s drowsy, almost incoherent “Hello?”

Jac responded “Yes“. Carmen laughed as she apologized. “Sorry!” Jac thought ‘Carmen has a beautiful laugh‘.

I’ll call you later! Bye!” Carmen said and hang up, still laughing with that beautiful laugh of hers. Jac tried to go back to sleep.

ElHombreDeLaLunaV01_17080812-1024x768.jpg

On Friday, early afternoon, Carmen made a video call. There she was, in her home in France, with her daughter, smiling happily. After chatting a bit, Carmen mentioned the reason of her messages and calls. She wanted to travel to Bolivia, in December, but she wasn’t finding a good fare, everything she got was over 2,000 Euros per person, she needed two tickets. Did I mentioned that Jac’s family had a travel agency in the past? For over 30 years? Does that make Jac an expert?

In any case, Jac and Carmen worked for a few hours in finding a good price for her tickets. At the end of their efforts she ended up paying around 2500 USD for both tickets! She was so happy. At the end of their conference she said “I’ll see you in 59 days!“

Well… I bring all this up because something weird is happening. Not long before that conversation, a week or so before, Jac was crossing the bridge near his home when he had an interesting encounter. He saw a man walking toward him, smiling, big smile, but he was wearing sun glasses so Jac couldn’t recognize him at first, until he was near enough. It was Monkey… that’s his nickname, who at one point was Jac’s film student, back in the 90’s, then he was his production assistant and actor. Jac produced Monkey’s first short way back then and the film went to win awards. Monkey is now heading the Film Office in Bolivia.

ElHombreDeLaLunaV01_18124429-1024x768.jpg

During their encounter the two men talked about everything. Jac’s productions mainly, and then Monkey asked. “Did you digitized El Hombre de la Luna?” Jac told him that he did and added “I want to make another series using the old footage with a new story that combines both” Monkey was impressed, he commented “30 years later! Because it’s going to be 30 years next year!“

Jac was suddenly aware of that fact, something he hadn’t thought about, even if it was so obvious. When Jac mentioned both events to Beto, the Associate Producer and actor of so many films and trusted old friend said The universe it telling you something.

ElHombreDeLaLunaV01_11080826-1024x768.jpg

Jac added two and two together and came to the conclusion that working on El Hombre de la Luna now is a must! He has to convince Carmen to recreate her role of Genevieve for the new series… and be ready to film in December!

With all the projects at hand, it does look like an impossible thing… but… knowing Jac…

His first argument with himself was… What about a script? Do you think you can have a script before December 9? And a Cast? and a Crew? and Locations? Impossible you say?

ElHombreDeLaLunaV01_11062510-1024x768.jpg

One thing is for sure, Carmen, aka Camille, will be in Bolivia in December and part of January … and Jac is even towing with the idea that she might have a cameo role in the series of four films The Crucified Four, which is headed for production for November-December, if everything falls into place, that is.

Are all those things coming together? Time will tell.

ElHombreDeLaLunaV01_03312921-1024x768.jpg

Jac discussed the possibility of making The Man From The Moon with his favorite cast, at separate times. First with Dani and Mila who found the idea interesting, then with Ligia who loved the idea of meeting Camille and finally with Simonne who would play the victim in the new miniseries. One element of the story is the famous Caporales comparsa, part of many festivities in Bolivia, most importantly during Carnival. Simonne is part of one such comparsa and for many years. Jac mentioned the possible escenario when she’s is taking part of the rehearsals and at one point she’s kidnapped by the bad guys.

ElHombreDeLaLunaV01_19255720-1024x768.jpg

Simonne mentioned that her comparsa were preparing some rehearsals and she could mention to them that possibility. I bring this up because Thursday the 30th, Jac and Simonne were shooting a scene for CruXbound IV where Simonne is tied up, upside down, arms and legs open, and Jac whips her mercilessly.

When they were done and getting ready for tea, she said: “I was thinking, while you were whipping me, that we could shoot some scenes with my Comparsa any Saturday during next month… we’ll be rehearsing.”

Jac was very amused… she was engaged in heavy thinking for another production while suffering torture in this one. Funny.

When Paulina learns of what really happened, she has Ide tortured and sentenced to die on the cross and gets Decius

Paulina
herself tortures the crucified Ide after she’s nailed to her cross and before she’s raised to be place on a horribly painful Cornu.

I have another question

Will the 4 crucified women wear crowns of thorns?

Margot, longtime customer here, different username, same avatar, I have purchased almost all of your films over 20 odd years. Seditiosa was fantastic, I have watched many times. But I will never understand why all three of the condemned weren't stripped naked, each to suffer equally humiliated on their crosses. And if only they were stripped naked at scourging, with fronts and backs of their thighs whipped as bloody as their backsides, enforced to drag their crosses naked to Golgotha for execution, I would likely watch no other film for the next two or possibly three years!!! :jump1:
A few days ago Jac was working with Ligia, who is going to be the runaway slave in Crucified Four. She's working on CruXbound I, a movie, but also a practice session for Crucified four. After she was whipped mercilessly they sat to talk a bit and she made a similar comment. "It would've been nice of the three were whipped naked before walking to their crucifixion"

Jac response was "Sure, but that was not in the plans, but in your story in Crucified Four, you'll be naked during the entire film... except the beginning"
Ligia smiled and said "I like that, it will be very dramatic"

Sol is not one of the regulars in the cast. She might be in other films in the future, but right now she's out of town, attending a university far away. I don't know if she'll be away for the entire 4 - 5 years of her studies. This is her first year in college. She graduated from high school last year... she's that young.

I would like to see them like this even if it is in a couple of scenes before they are completely naked

I guess at some point they will all be in loincloths or rags, at least for a bit, I know that Ligia and Dani will be totally naked before they start their walk to the cross, Mila will probably wear a loincloth or a rag for some of her walk and Simonne will definitely wear something like a loincloth during her walk.

I have another question

Will the 4 crucified women wear crowns of thorns?

I don't know, but I don't think so, there's no reason for it, maybe Simonne, who plays the wife of the governor might wear one because she's 'royalty', but that's a maybe.

I know Dani's character will have something like a crown but far more cruel and dramatic.

It's a shame we won't be able to see Sol Vargas for a while. I hope to see her in a Jac Avila movie in the not too distant future. where she is crucified with a beautiful loincloth

That's great news, I was afraid I wouldn't see any of the girls without a loincloth. It will be beautiful to see Mila and Simonne wear their beautiful loincloths before being crucified

I hope they wear crowns of thorns, at least Simonne The crown of thorns is vital in the crux movies and it is a vital torture accessory for the suffering of crux girls and at the same time an accessory that makes them look more beautiful

greetings and thanks for answering my questions Margot
