Its more likely the Gaul were going around saying "Remember Alesia!' for years, just like Americans saying "Remember the Alamo!" or "Remember Pearl Harbor!". Maybe the Romans obliterated the site so it wouldn't become a sacred site of Gaulic resistance.
The location is believed to be near the modern town of Alise-Sainte-Reine in Côte d’Or Department. There is archeological evidence although there are some who dispute this based on the topography not matching Caesar's description.

Here is a typical "catch 22" : the sheep have contained the sheepdog guarding them! So they could do what they want!? But as soon as they take their freedom, and disperse, the dog will be loose too, and round them up again!:confused::oops:
