Tradition

I'm not positive, but this appears to be an old Latvian woman celebrating the tradition of Jāņi, an annual Latvian festival celebrating the summer solstice. I was in Latvia during Līgo Day and Jāņi Day (consecutive) in 1992. We stopped by the road to pick wildflowers and weave them into wreaths as a present to our host.

She looks like she's sat there all through the winter and spring
waiting for those seeds she planted on her head last fall to blossom! :D

A bit of a change. He thought he was going for a modelling job, then things got interesting - or any other story you can come up with.

Who's ready for a drinking session with a hot Russian girl? ;) (yes I'm aware that the label is mirror image inverted but I haven't a clue how to reverse that. She looks fine tho')
Oh-oh! Stay away! I recognise her from during the Cold War! Soviet secret agent, code name SS-20! More dangerous than a batallion of elite red guards! Before you have unclipped that red bra, she knows everything you know about the NATO order of battle in the Fulda Gap!:eek:

Ironically, Smirnoff Vodka is produced by a British-owned company, Diageo;
ever since the Smirnov family fled from the Revolution in 1917, it was banned in the USSR,
but after 1989 it became hugely popular among Red (becoming Russian) Army troops,
and with imports to Russia, the market for Smirnoff expanded hugely.
A descendant of the Smirnov family started producing Smirnov (sic) vodka in Russia,
after some legal wrangles, Smirnoff's owners licensed him to continue,
using their label but the Russian form of the name.
So that's what the hottie's holding - but she isn't a Cold War hottie!

I am (once again) flabbergasted. Is there any topic you have no profound information about?
