True, but if the person is being crucified then such damage would be of little concern, I would think. Personally I wouldn't be using them for that purpose anyway. There are other, much fleshier areas to use them on that's a lot more fun imo.

Here is a crux tip. I found from my experience, that you might want to put nails where you want the ropes to be, I was never nailed up, but in using ropes to securer yourself to the cross, it's wise to have nails where the ropes go around the patibulum and the stipes, so they don't slide in towards the center or down towards the floor. This keeps you in the position you want to be in.
