By that I mean that he published a lot of creative research with both data and testable ideas and was able to inspire (both in admiration and by pissing people off) a plethora of other research with data and testable ideas. For his arguments that human behavior is grounded in biology, he was called a racist, but he didn't defend himself with invective and name-calling but with data. His books are many and readable.
