Cornish comedian Jethro died today aged 73 after catching Faucci's Fever :(

We have lost a very funny man who was not afraid to call out idiocy wherever he saw it and never allowed himself to be hamstrung by the scourge of political correctness.
RIP Jethro - You made us all smile...

Joan Didion, author, journalist, commentator on American life. 1934-2021

There is also a really good article about this great woman in the most famous Swiss newspaper "Neue Zürcher Zeitung = NZZ" in German:

In this article, there is mentioned a scene from this award celebration at minute 25:30 when President Obama leads and holds Joan Didion to this award ceremony like holding the most rare precious jewel and the author of this article says that in fact, she was a jewel and she was worth every award you can imagine:

Edward Osborne Wilson, probably the most influential biologist of the 20th century (and into the 21st). By that I mean that he published a lot of creative research with both data and testable ideas and was able to inspire (both in admiration and by pissing people off) a plethora of other research with data and testable ideas. For his arguments that human behavior is grounded in biology, he was called a racist, but he didn't defend himself with invective and name-calling but with data. His books are many and readable. The PDF of the NY Times obituary has pictures and so is too long to attach, but the link is below.
