Edward Osborne Wilson, probably the most influential biologist of the 20th century (and into the 21st). By that I mean that he published a lot of creative research with both data and testable ideas and was able to inspire (both in admiration and by pissing people off) a plethora of other research with data and testable ideas. For his arguments that human behavior is grounded in biology, he was called a racist, but he didn't defend himself with invective and name-calling but with data. His books are many and readable. Betty White was a really great and very lovely person. It is a pity that she could not celebrate her 100th birthday. Some pictures of and with her are simply beautiful and some are famous for all times even in Germany, because for example the TV series "The Golden Girls" is shown repeatedly almost every week and for decades now on one of Germany's TV channels:
