The final Spitfire variant.

The final Spitfire variant, the Mk. 24 was similar to the Mk. 22. It carried extra fuel, and had wing fittings for rocket projectiles. Some were built with shorter-barrelled Mark V Hispano cannon.

A total of 81 Mk. 24s were completed, 27 of which were conversions from Mk. 22s. The last Mk. 24 to be built was delivered in February 1948. They were used by only one RAF squadron, No. 80 Squadron RAF, until 1952. Some of the squadron's aircraft went to the Hong Kong Auxiliary Air Force where they were operated until 1955.

I almost said Spitfire too. But, then I looked at the squared off wing tips.
It is actually the Supermarine Spiteful. The final Spitfire variant, too late for WWII and only produced in small numbers.

Supermarine Spiteful F. 1/43
Supermarine Spiteful
British Rolls-Royce Griffon-Engined Fighter Aircraft
The Supermarine Spiteful was a British Rolls-Royce Griffon-engined fighter aircraft designed by Supermarine to Air Ministry specification F.1/43 during the Second World War as a successor to the Spitfire. It featured an entirely new wing design, intended to improve its critical mach number and allow safe operations at higher speeds. The new design also allowed the landing gear to be re-arranged to a modern inward-retracting design. Other changes included a larger vertical tail to improve the somewhat marginal stability of Spitfires with the Griffon engine, and changes to the mounting of the engine to tilt it down slightly to improve visibility over the nose.

yeah TOTALLY got it....:clap::clap::clap:

I try to catch up here, as I try to with many threads I am lagging behind (too much RL by moments, and need to make time for writing myself).
There are many great lanscape pics posted here, which could serve as great backgrounds for a great crucifixion scene.
And from time to time I do it.
