The car is a Citroën DS.
'DS' is pronounced as dé-es, the same way as 'déesse', which means 'godess' in French.
The pun was intended by the French designers to give their model a divine spirit (after all it was way ahead of its time in many aspects, in 1955)!
Another version of the DS was called ID (pronounced as idée, the French for idea).
