In 50+ years of driving, I have never used them once. And I don't recall ever seeing them used. I have seen them used occasionally by bike riders, although most of the bicyclist around here don't bother because they assume they own the road are not required to obey any road rules. And people wonder why we have such a high rate of people getting hit on bikes.
