There were also opposing voices, mainly from women from feminist circles, arguing that under the guise of "voluntary" there is the enslavement of all adult women in Great Britain, depriving them of even the right to wear clothes, and that they will be raped, beaten and killed for disobedience. as in the times of ancient Rome. Supporters of legalizing voluntary slavery of women countered this accusation, arguing that female slaves were to be treated humanely by their owners, which changes the fact that as female slaves they have no rights and their owner will be able to do anything with them whatever he wants, including starving, beating, including killing them (in particularly justified cases) which is the essence of slavery, where a slave should be punished for disobedience at the owner's discretion. Regarding the obligation of nudity for slave girls, it was decided that slave women should be naked, especially during their auction or other form of purchase or sale, so that potential buyers could examine their naked bodies to check their usefulness, and so that the slave trader or seller could demonstrate the slave's use. The next point of discussion was the issue of the slave identification system and their detailed records. Although it was rightly claimed that female slaves must generally live naked both in their owner's residence and in public places, they must be marked in some way. Firstly, to be able to distinguish slaves who usually lived naked from other naked women who were not female slaves (e.g. nudists) or to distinguish other slaves (who could wear exceptional clothes) from free women. Details regarding sex slaves were also established. The market value of a female slave was to be determined by age, profession (e.g. prostitute, maid, maid, etc.), length and history of service (whether she had been disciplined), experience (training), appearance, health, market demand (including the number of female slaves). given profession on the market). To provide former female slaves with a decent life (if the former owner did not guarantee it), a fund was established where, during each female slave's service, 25% of what the female slave earned for her owner or 1/4 of the minimum wage (depending on which amount was higher) is paid ).
It was also decided to establish Women's Slavery Offices, to operate in larger cities (in 1987 there were 4, in 1990 6, in 1995 24, in 2000 49, in 2005 91, in 2010 169, in 2015 177, in 2020 194, and in 2024 200), whose task is to register and record female slaves, conduct medical examinations, perform physical inspections of their bodies (measuring their dimensions, weighing them) or cooperate with auction houses, female slave markets, or other entities involved in the female slave trade. For this purpose, each Agency building was guaranteed appropriate infrastructure, parking lots (for trucks and other vehicles delivering slave women), staff and equipment.
It was decided that any woman (not incapacitated) who was 18 years old (adult) on the date of registration could become a female slave. The position of some people who proposed the age of 16 to become a female slave (referring to the fact that this is the age of majority in Scotland) was rejected, explaining that a 16-17-year-old girl is not yet fully developed physically and mentally to be a female slave, as well as the need to protect girls of this age from forced nudity (particularly regarding prostitution). It was decided that slave women were to be punished on the same basis as free people if their owner did not decide to punish the slave himself. According to the regulations, female slaves were required to be naked during executions, and their bodies were to be buried naked in special cemeteries outside the cities.
About 95 percent of female slave executions are carried out in public, and until 2011 they were carried out in various places (in city squares (usually hanging, beheading, burning at the stake), on a nearby hill (crucifixion), stadium (crucifixion, hanging, drowning in shackles, thrown to wild animals, impaled on a stake) or other public place (with a ban on the presence of minors). 1) the slave girl is to be whipped, she brings the whipping tool to her master, and then she goes to the pillory or pole to be tied to it before the whipping, or she assumes the flogging position (she lies down with her buttocks sticking out/exposing her back, etc.),
2) the female slave is to be shackled or stripped naked (if she had the privilege not to wear shackles or clothes), she brings the shackles to her master to be shackled (or puts the shackles on herself) or strips naked herself,
3) the female slave is to be taken to the dungeon (basement/attic, etc.) and handcuffed, then the slave goes there herself and allows herself to be handcuffed without resistance),
4) the female slave is about to be brutally raped (usually a gang rape by several hired people). There are 3 types of sex for a female slave: as part of service if she is a female sex slave; as a reward from its owner; and as punishment) (sex is brutal, combined with gagging and flogging; according to the law, you cannot rape a slave, only damage a movable property).
The female slave herself never claims that the owner did wrong to punish her. According to every self-respecting female slave, the owner, if he has not forgiven his female slave and decided to punish the female slave for her disobedience, does it for her good, to raise her. This is a signal for every female slave to work on her discipline so as not to neglect her service next time. Female slaves often improve their service in order to reduce the risk of performing poorly in their service as much as possible. Likewise, when a female slave gets a reward, it is a motivation for her to always serve her owner in this way.
If many female slaves serve a given owner, the slaves generally do not compete with each other, each of them serves separately. If they have to serve together (e.g. serve a customer in a brothel or cook dinner for their master), they try to help each other, and if problems arise (e.g. burning a meal, forgetting to vacuum some parts of the house), they try to repair the damage. However, if one of them was disobedient or performed duties improperly, the other female slaves (if they knew about it) must report it to their owner (otherwise they will be punished themselves). Nevertheless, they often make friends with each other, try to spend their free time together, and if there are lesbians or bisexuals among the slaves, relationships, including sexual ones, are also formed. It is important to remember that female slaves cannot marry.
Although the owner has life and death rights over her, he also provides the female slave with protection. Since a female slave is a movable property, during court proceedings she is the object and not the subject of the lawsuit (the owner is formally a party to the lawsuit). Formally, killing, injuring (raping) or kidnapping a female slave is (if there was no disciplinary penalty) the destruction, damage or theft of things under the law, so the perpetrator of this act must pay appropriate compensation to the owner of the female slave, however, the perpetrator of the destruction, damage or theft of a female slave is criminally liable. the same as for the murder, wounding (rape) or kidnapping of a free woman. This is supposed to be a guarantee for the female slave that she can legally count on her owner, and also motivate her to faithfully serve her master, being completely obedient to him. The situation is similar in civil cases.
 
I see... so when it comes to illegimate harms against them, slaves count both as people and as property? (The downside being that more harms are legitimate.)

What about when the slave commits a crime - on their owner's orders or otherwise? Is there any due process?

As a rule, the owner bears criminal liability and the slave girl is confiscated. The female slave herself is not guilty of private crimes ordered by her master (e.g. insult, violation of bodily integrity), the owner is then responsible and pays compensation.
If a female slave, on the orders of her owner, has committed a public crime (e.g. murder, robbery, theft, etc.), she is confiscated as a movable property and the owner is criminally liable for this crime. In case of more serious crimes, the female slave may be confiscated, and the owner may even lose the right to own the female slave (because he did not keep an eye on his property).

It works the same way as a regular criminal court. It considers cases related to the crimes of slave women if their owner did not decide to punish them and handed the female slave over to the justice system. In the case of more serious crimes, the female slave is liable to criminal court on her own. He may sentence her:
1) for flogging (usually theft, burglaries or non-violent assaults) - the sentence is then carried out in public, the norm is that it is carried out in a special square in every larger city (however, this applies to 3% of floggings per year). In practice, however, most often a slave:
a) is sent to a Female Slave Prison for a few days, where he is whipped in the presence of witnesses (32% flogging, usually from 50 to 100 strokes of the whip) or:
(b) by its owner in his home (65% flogging, usually not exceeding 50 strokes of the lash); in this case, it is only 2.5 of all floggings performed by their owner. Usually, the owner punishes the female slave for improper performance of duty or for acts of disobedience (although these are more serious offenses).
Typically, such floggings range from 10 to 100 times (an average of 40) on the legs, buttocks and back (and in more serious cases also on the front part of the body. However, the owner can release the female slave from punishment if he pays compensation to the injured party, which happens quite often. In 2023, 3,628 slave women were sentenced to flogging, of which 2,704 were flogging.
2) to prison (thefts and burglaries of large amounts of money, robberies and other violent crimes) - minimum 1 month, maximum 15 years. Without exception, slave women are naked (even if only a few of them could wear them before) and they are obliged to wear shackles. Slaves serve:
a) either in prison (for good behavior while serving a sentence, if the sentence is quite short or if the court so decides,
b) or outside the prison (in a nearby mine or on a plantation, in a quarry, or other hard work outside) - usually from 8 to 12 hours a day, 7 days a week (days off are a reward here). This does not change the fact that acts of disobedience can also be punished there by starvation, rape, confinement in solitary confinement or flogging. They go to the site on foot (very rarely by car), all of them handcuffed together. Meals have 2 a day (morning and evening)
In 2023, 2,304 slave women were sentenced to this punishment, of which 2,055 served outside prison on plantations, mines, quarries, etc. The average length of the sentence is 3.5 years. A total of 6,385 slave women served this punishment in 2023
3) hard labor for life (female slaves who were sentenced to the territory of Great Britain) have a chance (although small) of being released after 9 - 15 years and slaves return to normal life) on plantations, quarries, mines, galleys, etc. (murderers , rebels, and recidivists (repeated thefts, assaults, robberies, etc.). In addition to compulsory nudity and wearing shackles, after reaching the place of hard labor for life, slave women are obliged to shave their heads bald (although only once, then they can grow their hair) and have inscriptions painted on their backs and foreheads, e.g. "MURDERER", "REBELLE". . They work 16 hours a day without a day off, are punished for the slightest offenses (usually by whipping), with imported slaves (those who entered female slave service or were born in Great Britain) treated the worst. They have two meals a day and sleep in the area of the place of service. Those female slaves who are deemed unfit for work:
a) (on average after 3 years - imported female slaves (who, however, began their slave service in Great Britain or were born in Great Britain),
b) (on average after 5 years - the remaining slaves) are sentenced to death (by the Criminal Court for Female Slaves known to us). This includes the vast majority of slave women specially imported into Britain and a small number of other slave women.
In 2023, 1,340 female slaves were sentenced to lifelong hard labor (not counting 7,400 female slaves imported from other countries but born in Great Britain or starting slave service in Great Britain). In 2023, 6,723 slaves sentenced in Great Britain + 22,245 so-called imported female slaves.

..I'm honestly not sure how all this affects my sense of how much of this is going on, but I still feel it seems a bit too common.

When flogging is ordered by the court and carried out by the owner, is there some requirement of witnessing?

What is the boundary between matters for an owner to resolve and those under the jurisdiction of the court?

...it looks like more slaves are being executed than than imprisoned or sent to labour?
