There are no concession about put a woman facing the cross. On that position, her is like worshipping a phallus... her cross phallus.

Similar with the sponge used to hydrate crucifixion victims. Sponges were used in Roman times to clean asses.
 
The fate of Scorpianus

A former general, Emperor Scorpianus carved out a piece of the Roman Empire during the tumult of the 3rd century AD.

Ironically, when Scorpianus had the upper hand, he had ordered many women to be crucified. Now, like his victims, he will know the agony and shame of the cross, as he hangs, naked and bloody for all to see.

Now the main protagonist is seem to appear for the first time.

She doesn't look like she has much meat on her bones. She's thin, it seems. Let her be crucified. While I watch with pleasure, the wild Red Sonja, even in the process of being sodomized, has brought out some fighting strength.
