A young 19 year old student decided to celebrate her friend's 19th birthday. For this occasion they were stripped naked, whipped and nailed to crosses with 4 nails, facing each other from sunrise to sunset (it was winter). After sunset they would be taken down from the crosses, their wounds would be dressed and they would go to an evening birthday party. Their stigmata on their wrists and feet would accompany them for a long time as a sign of their friendship.

The handsome bloke they did a job for, was a criminal. They had been warned for him, but they they refused to see it, blinded by his charm. They got caught, he walked away with it. The judge showed no mercy, despite their only 20 years and their alledged juvenile naivity.

Think they have stiffed Agnes as she only got 3 nails..

Agnes didn't get a footrest, either. With her feet nailed one over the other to the flat front of the stipes, Agnes' long, slender legs may well look great but will not be able to support her hanging body as well as her friend whose legs are side by side with feet separately nailed to the footrest.

Agnes wasn't stiffed, her friend was. Agnes will probably die much sooner.

Both girls were certainly "stiffed" many times before being crucified, as is the common practice.
