The most ashaming and humiliating crucifixion of a single woman displayed in the nude between (equally nude - or even not nude!) men.

Two more trios. The exposed feminine nudity contrasted with the clothes of the males victims looks humiliating but I found personally the last arrangement extremely shameful and degrading. It is sketched as the onlookers could see the crucified criminals: focused on genital areas of all the victims, stretching their naked bodies while being mercilessly hammered to their patibula.

And here you are the whole series of different victims being observed during the preliminary phase of crucifixion, i.e. during nailing their wrists to the beams. Let me repeat: this is the perfect pose, showing exactly how the onlookers could see the crucified criminals: focused on genital areas of the victims, mostly losing their control and stretching their naked bodies in pain while being mercilessly hammered to their patibula. Even the most shy girl, brave woman, proud lady of the high family, the most decent wife, pious confessor or even the saint was totally powerless against the terrible blow of pain following the strokes of a hammer! Mentally stunned but physically relaxed after the previous stress, soft like fainting and weak as a little baby she must give up with no further and futile resistance...

I’m always fascinated by women you draw crucified with their hair still done up (or in ponytails), in addition to making her experience even more uncomfortable, as she can’t lean her head all the way back without her bundled hair getting in the way, it gives the naked, crucified woman a mocking image of class and sophistication. I mean, she’s butt-naked on a cross, crying and pissing and sweating her life away, but at least her hair is done!

I’m always fascinated by women you draw crucified with their hair still done up (or in ponytails), in addition to making her experience even more uncomfortable, as she can’t lean her head all the way back without her bundled hair getting in the way, it gives the naked, crucified woman a mocking image of class and sophistication. I mean, she’s butt-naked on a cross, crying and pissing and sweating her life away, but at least her hair is done!

The most practical reason for leaving the long hairs bound in a ponytail etc. is to prevent covering breasts with the hair strands. The other option is to cut the long hairs just over the shoulders. I am not sure about the historical evidence here, but it sounds reasonable. The crucified females must feel their humiliation, and they must be deprived of the slightest possibility to cover their nakedness even partially and to hide their faces... Their degradation must be full and ultimate. It was absolutely horrific experience - to be crucified in a Roman way... And there could be orher reasons as well. For example, I could imagine the contrast between the rich hairdress of a lady and her total nakedness as a symbol of stripping her of previous dignity. As well, the feeling of not wearing the slightest piece of the fabric on her whole body save the hair ribbon must be excruciatingly painful for the victim.

Exactly. To left her hair uncut and free looks like an executioner's mistake. Do remember that in these ancient times (in some nations and cultures at least) virgins and unmarried youths in general never cut their hair so they could cover nearly the whole body with them, thus spoiling the show, if they are not prevented with some actions.

Theres a good story there, of a long-haired virgin deflowered before her execution (to comply with the law, of course), but crucified with her long hair uncut. Instead, it’s sloppily piled high on her head or tied back in a long braid, as a mockery of the style she would have had as a Roman wife. Give her a cornu and let her fuck her new husband before she dies.

If the executioners can resist the temptation to do it themselves, maybe let the cross and cornu do the defloration. It’s her new husband, after all.

All to uphold the law.

Here you are another set of the sketches, describing the similar cruelty leading to the the horrific "peep show dance" of the crucified female, forcing her to make efforts to cover her genitals but in fact she will be regularly unable to do so, loosing control with an extreme pain or fatigue, which looks far more exciting for the onlokers, and creating deliberately the general impression that the crucified woman is a perverted slut, because she obviously CAN keep her knees together but, as we can see, she "prefers" to not to do so. In fact her feet are nailed deliberately in such a clever way that keeping the upper legs together is possible, but it is twice as painful as letting them to spread open. So - let me repeat one more time - even the most decent girl or shy woman or even the saint is simply NOT ABLE to keep her knees connected to one another all the time while performing her dance and especially when relaxing her legs hanging on wrists only in a lower position of the body. The onlookers not familiar with the used trick are sure that the victim is a dirty perv or that she is showing her contempt to them in this way, so they stop sympathize with her or express their pity but they're enraged and disgusted themselves and begin to mock her and assault her and use the harsh words and even the real stones. This is exactly the effect the executors want to achieve. The proper position of the feet could be achieved by use of the round pole or the square cross-section with the edges chamfered or a round one, see my sketches for reference. The legs COULD be kept together with a significant effort but the natural , the least painful position of the legs is widespreaded.

Exactly, Andy. You identified and solved the same problem as a certain character in Jedakk’s exquisite classic, “Faithful Sayings.” Abdullah wanted to crucify the naked American girls with their legs spread wide when they hung low, but he used straight-cut timber and ran into a complication.

Abdullah prepares to drive the first spike through the blonde girl’s right foot, but he is not satisfied with what he sees. "No, this is not right, her knees should not be pressed together that way! I did not have this problem in Sudan. What is different...? It is this square timber; in Sudan we used round timbers taken from the huts. I should have thought of this, but we can fix it.

The poor girl has to dangle by her wrists for a while, but they get notches carved into the stipes for her feet and soon enough she’s fully pinned to her cross.
