Exactly, this idea has some interesting points worthy explaining. But let me start with the better quality image of a late Margaret, made in the sunlight and more flat than my yesterday version:
Now, let me explain few details as I imagined them, to be sure all is possible. Margaret was killed according to this schedule but it was the same for every victim before and after her.
The victim was prepared to the execution starting from the day before. She was not given anything to eat, she could only drink water. Her hair were cut or tied in a ponytail, braids or other form not spoiling the view.
In the morning he / she was thoroughly examined by the physician and the specialist in cardiology. During this preparations, in the top side of his / her right palms the discreet set of electrodes and the set of cannulas were placed.
They allowed later her physical condition and stability to be monitored, so some water, drugs or nutrients could be injected to eliminate the risk of premature death (if necessary).
On the other hand, the basic physical parameters were listed on the TV screen during the broadcast, together with the approximate pain level calculated after the neuronal signals and muscles spasms, in order to get the onlookers the most thorough imagination how terribly the crucified man or woman was suffering.
At noon BBC broadcasted so called The Last Interview with the victim, aware of his or her fate, in the studio. Often the criminal tried to prove he/she was innocent, but it was an interview not a judicial interrogation and no one really cares of his/her statements. Sometimes the condemned made his or her final wish but rarely it was fulfilled. Finally, the sentence was read by the announcer and the broadcast ended.
Two hours later the execution was scheduled, so now the final preparations were being made (not broadcasted). After the final medical examination at 14:45 the criminal was given the dose of painkilling and stunning drugs. Then he/she is stripped and tied to the cross. The cross was as usual made of two wooden logs, and the prepared nails were made of cast iron, hand smithed, so the tools of torture were as always traditional. When everything was ready, the cameras were set on and the broadcast begun.
At 15:00 the timer started along with the first stroke of hammer. After some quarter the painkillers stopped working and then the real agony begun (see below the still from another broadcast - one of the very first).
Every move and sound of the victim was recorded and stored for later replays.
The TV channel for the broadcast was coded and available only for verified adults, and those who watched the online broadcast could select the camera (See below the still from another broadcast) and switch between the comments of the rapporteur and a soundtrack with the victim screams and groans only.
In the cities involved in the program, big high resution screens were set up in few restricted areas (ticket zone - adults only) so the people could gather together there and watch the victim - and they could BE SEEN by him/her, because (in order to make the criminal agony more deeply humiliating) the same kind of big screen was set opposite to his/her cross, so he/she can see the people watching his/her agony. Every minute the live images from a camera positioned under the street screen in a different location were shown and the viewers laughs and shouts were transmitted as well. In addition, the five minutes was scheduled for the president and local authorities. Watching all these people and realizing that they watch him/her too add a special scent to his or her agony.
A counter of the viewers number was an especially cruel addition. Realizing that your forced nudity and writhing in pain was seen by hundreds of millions people throughout the world was a really crushing experience. (See below the still from another broadcast showing this device)
The scheduled time of the agony was eight hours and so was the time of the live broadcasting. A minute before the scheduled death, the knees of the criminal were smashed with a thick wooden plank. The victim often lost consciousness with enormous pain. Some of them died immediately with a pain shock. Whether they lost consciousness or not, a minute later the lethal dose of phenol was injected, terminating the heartbeat.
To continue the Roman tradition, the corpse delivered from the cross was examined and then fed to the carnivorous animals.
