Dying from pain, heat, hunger and thirst, Helga heroically struggles with the overwhelming desire to talk to the surrounding soldiers and passers-by and to cry for mercy, which she feels to be especially humiliating as it is too late for her to be rescued after being impaled with the sharp square piece of wood. And moreover, because no one here can understand her language. And the icing on the cake was the fact she don't understand Latin as well, so she never understand a single word from her mistaken accusation (few minutes after her arrival from her far homeland to this Roman town), the whole trial and the sentence and she was shocked when they unexpectedly stripped her naked and scourge her back. And she was twice shocked and fearful when they didn't let her dress up and go after being whipped, but loaded her with the patibulum, and she understood she was condemned to the worst death ever invented - for nothing.

I always love the idea on Regina is bare naked in shame between two other criminal. This two illustrated really well. If the two are men, she will be more humiliated

Exactly, this is the most degrading option for woman: to be crucified along with men, all stripped naked, or (maybe even worse) being naked between the almost naked or dressed companions. The Noble Vulchur pic is very interesting, a really effective combination of the artwork and the NV crux pic, half the work is in finding sympathetic and matching components like these ones are.

A source of life right on her body. It could remove all thought of being crucified but for how long it will last is unknown. A well done form of torture when the bird flies away. Of course she could die when the bird flies away?

I hope she will die soon, if her life cannot be spared. She is so unhappy!
But I am afraid that she will be dying many long painful hours or days. Her bent knees and slightly bent arms prove that her body weight must be supported by some kind of cornu or by the sedile. If so, she will be still long waiting for the miracle of death.

Looking at the previous sketch one can realize that the "short-term" crucifixion (nailing wrists and feet only) gives much more interesting "dancing" poses than the "long-term" one, which is more static (impaling with the cornu or forcing her to be sitting on the sedile).

Of course, the cornu/sedile maximizes pain in the crotch, which is extremely humiliating, and secures the prolonged, slow agony to the victim, changing the death mechanism from asphyxia to starving. But after some research and experiments I am finally again a big fan of the three or four nails crucifixions (with the fifth nail - if any will be used at all - being hammered under the crotch and not through the genitals, allowing the victim lifting her body up and forcing her to do it every few minutes due to the extreme pain in genital area. The standard sedile in form of the bicycle "saddle" or made of flat piece of beam is too comfortable to be used for the condemned.

Yusebby was of the opinion that a sedile-less, "short term" crux could still last for days. But even if that weren’t true, The Dance is what a lot of the crux addicts come for.

I hope you won't abandon the flat beam. It can be the base for an upward-pointing shaft, or just on its own it makes the victim live much longer with the added humiliation of the spectators thinking she is enjoying herself riding on it.
