All in all, "The Agony Component" may be the most important factor in whether a staged crucifixion titillates the viewer.
The model can be plain looking, the rigging amateurish, the cinematography shaky and out of focus, the audio full of background noise-- I've seen all of these (and other failings) redeemed by a good acting job (and probably good directing, esp. in the case of Makar's videos) where the one on the cross literally writhes in agony.
This model (in Alex Bald's Crucifixion 15) understands this concept! (Don't forget to turn on the audio!)
