The executioner botched it requiring three stroke to separate the head from the body.

Non-guillotine beheading requires a lot of skill. The human body is pretty tough, and is understandably quite tough to break apart. Medieval and early modern executioners, especially in smaller cities/towns and when not dealing with nobles, who made sure to get a good axe or swordsman, ranged all over the map in skill.

There was a case in Nuremberg or Frankfurt in the 1500s, where the executioner showed up drunk to his appointment to behead a young woman for killing her newborn. The first axe blow landed in her shoulder, and the second grazed her neck, knocking her off the block. A witness in the crowd reported that she cried for mercy, and the crowd echoed it, but the executioner managed to haul her back onto the block and get her head separated from her body, although it took 3 more blows to accomplish.

No word on if the executioner kept his job after that little debacle.

The girl with one foot nailed higher up than the other reminds me of an old Jedakk work. I think it is even featured very early on in this thread:




Her feet aren’t fastened at different heights like in Cruxkilla’s work, but putting one foot on the side of the stipes serves a similar function in getting her legs spread apart.

Add a cornu buried inside her and helping push her marvelous butt up a bit, and this is one of the most...stimulating crux images ever done.

Having never actually seen someone hanging dead on a cross I can’t be sure. But it seems likely to me that her head would slump forward, chin resting on her breast.

recreating such scene...

I imagine she's in exhaustion, the poor thing. She's been hanging all day and nearly all her strength is gone. She can only feebly push herself up to breathe more easily. (The bastards didn't even give her a sedile!).

Her body is slick with sweat. Her muscles in awful spasms. Her intercostals are probably paralyzed by this point and unable to inflate her lungs, so her breathing is more diaphragmatic. (Would she be breathing shallow and rapid or slower and deeper because of this?)

Her head is dropped forward because it takes too much effort to raise it up.

She's still alive. And far from death.

Better keep her watered. She hasn't pissed lately. Getting too dehydrated.

That head position is sexy and convincing, but I think that one's head would fall sightly to one side or the other in death. To fall perfectly forward would be like flipping a nickle and having it land on its edge.
You can try this yourself: relax your neck and shoulder muscles as much as possible, and have someone support your head as you tilt it forward. Then slowly take away the support. Your head will fall forward and tilt slightly right or left.
Someone else with more knowledge of human anatomy may be able to explain better this lolling of the head.

The beauty of it is that we can take it either way as suits each of us. I think her mouth is open to suck in air as she slumps in exhaustion.

I love this sort of scene, there is a powerful and intimate eroticism about the helpless cruxee being so dependent on her tormentor for something as basic and necessary as water, and to have no more agency than to open her mouth and suck in the water like an animal is so deeply humiliating.
It could be seen as a mercy, or a chance to get close to the naked woman and assert power over her.
