Actually, I think it is difficult to be a woman in quite a lot of countries, especially in times of war. But that is a natural female burden.

Actually, I think it is difficult to be a woman in quite a lot of countries, especially in times of war. But that is a natural female burden.
This is one of Martin van Maële's illustrations for Anatole France's satirical/ erotic novel Thais, based on the legend of St Thais of Egypt, a harlot who became a devout Christian, but in France's novel the relationship between her and the monk who sets out to 'save' her is a lot more sensual and complex, and ends up with her about to enter heaven, he's heading for the other place!
It is like in the old saying "In times of war the law falls silent". It is indeed a natural burden which we must accept and bear as women. A natural law as you might say.

Maybe because you're Protestant? Because confession to a lustful Catholic priest is much more adventurous than to a boring protestant. -
