I Know That My Redeemer Liveth is from the third movement of Messiah, George Frideric Handel’s masterpiece, the text is entirely based on Scripture, in this case on verses from Job 19:25-26 and 1 Corinthians 15:20. It begins with the "ascending fourth", a unifying motif of the oratorio. Here performed by Sylvia McNair, accompanied by The Academy of St. Martin in the Fields, the legendary Sir Neville Marriner conducting.
