In 1958, Leonard Bernstein became the first American-born conductor to lead a major American orchestra, the New York Philharmonic. His energy conducting was legendary. The musicians of the NY Phil nicknamed him leaping Leonard since he would actually leap in the air during a performance. You can imagine him doing plenty of leaping during this piece from Act III of Rimsky-Korsakov's The Snow Maiden - The Dance of the Tumblers! The familiar tune is sure to uplift you!

Can a lament be uplifting? A popular Civil War-era song, somehow, to me is uplifting in the celebration of undying love and remembrance. Dedicated to those of us who have lost loved ones in 2020.
For this socially distanced holiday I’ve been brooding meditating over the unthinkable and mind bending scale of the cosmos, as one does.
So I put this three and a half hours of Hubble Space Telescope eye candy on my desktop, with the new-agey mood music dialed down to 1.
