The townsfolk gather to see the pirate captain’s woman humbled and flogged. They crowd together, eager to drink in every inch of her naked back and breasts as she trembles on the whipping post. Her screams will be but a temporary salve for all the money and lives lost to the marauding raider, still at large.

Three months ago, Nora’s wealthy father placed her in the convent to keep her away from a working class boy. He feared that the pair would marry against his wishes. When Nora tried to escape yesterday, she was caught before she even made the next county.
Nora doesn’t yet know the punishment that awaits after morning prayers. Mother Superior will brutally flog the wailing girl’s pale back until blood runs. Nora’s roommate Celeste, kneeling behind, will next be dragged to the whipping frame for failing to quickly report Nora’s suspicious absence.

In this strictly religious Puritan community any immodest behaviour is frowned upon, so the lewd and adulterous antics of the Widow Moore were severely censured by her peers. After being convicted by the Church Council, she was paraded barefoot in her shift around the village and secured to the whipping post, there, she must wait for the conclusion of the Sunday service, when she will receive the harlot`s traditional thirty nine lashes. A daunting prospect indeed!
