As I have said elsewhere on cf, it's my favorite scene too ... every time I see the pics or the video clip (which is way too short), my mind starts fantasizing.

The left part of the drawing is based on the famous Buna Beach photo from 1942. The photo was published in Life Magazine in 1943, and was the first published photo of American dead in battle during the war.

The Czech Hedgehogs the girls are tied on, were rather used on the European front.

As much art (?) went into the titles of these stories as went into the illustrations.
