They would nail you. Not just through the feet, but as well ad heavy ropes holding you to that position with your arms behind the cross, they nail your forearms together crossed behind or both forearms separately around the back. So be prepared for some ouch!! Sorry...

Pushing down on the nailed foot will push
indicated blueish themetatarsal bones to the sides.
The pinkish joints will be come under a lot of stress
resulting in extra agony in addition to the nail
scraping the two bones and the "normal pain "
a foot will experience anyways from being nailed.
The position this nail is in is quite stable unless,
it is used for upside down crucifixion.

Placement of the nail lower will probably make
the nail rip upward when the foot is pressed down.
Any higher will be harder to nail through the bone,
but it should be possible in principle

Interesting explanation! And it's correct.

Keep in mind that the victim hasn't note the feet inclined, but above on the footrest.
And footrest platform is positioned completely horizontally so the feet have a really good resting even with the nail that is driven more lower.
And i love the nail hammered between the methatarsal and toes bones.

Now i repost your works and i make you see where my favourite nail position to driven in the feet. (i have put two white points where the nail get hammered)

Tree has found that with a good mallet and spike, you can drive a spike through the arches of the feet. It might break some bones but who really cares. You are executing her, aren't you?
And you can use a rusty spike, too.

With a horizontal footrest that might very well work :)

You want to be crucified with your arms behind the patibulum. Trust me you don't. I've been crucified that way once, and it was the most pain I ever endured on a cross.

Some might call you a cruel man, ‘tree… others might query how you came to learn such information… a privileged few know that such apparent cruelty is in-fact a mercy as ‘tree is only trying to hasten the condemned bitch’s doom, right?
