Yes, but the simple fact of being bound naked and exposed on a rack, expecting to be tortured, adds to the prisoners' sense of vulnerability and loss of control (as in the the fifth picture).

It reminds me of some verses from my poem 'La Victime':
My arms and legs are torn; my buttocks, loins and hips
Scourged till they bleed; my smooth perspiring thighs
Stripped slowly of their skin, the raw flesh cauterised;
My adolescent breasts, as ripe fruit for his lips,
I thrust towards him, coaxing my Angel of Death
To spare me the horror young girls fear the worst –
Their soft flesh squeezed with red-hot pincers till they burst:
The iron jaws glow, my prayers are wasted breath!

It can be very chilly & damp in the dungeon. The considerate executioner will make sure his guest are kept warm during their time there.and they get it even with an heating

In Venice, the palais des Doges had a prison under the roof covered with lead plates. So in summer time it could be hot hot hot!
