While I have no evidence of an actual burning, some tests I made during a similar discussion at stakedamsels (if breasts can light), out of scientific curiosity, indicate that body fat in the presence of an external heat source actually burns!
And quite fiercely.
But it takes additional external heat (present: pyre), because of all the water in the body fat.
Don't underestimate the burning potential of fat!

Continuation of the series. It's the scariest moment in the series. The woman is lowered even deeper into the fire. The flame burns her hair, her face and licks her inner thighs. She became blind because the fire burned her eyes. I hope she died after that, but I can't be sure of that.

In a modern cremation, a temperature of 1,600 - 1,800 F (871 - 982 C) for about 90 minutes is required to reduce the average size human to ashes. This temp is impossible with an outdoor wood fire. Traditional Hindu cremation, which is the closest to burning at the stake in the modern world, requires a great deal of wood and several hours to reduce the body. Even then, large bone pieces remain.

I think she would be dead almost immediately after this position from inhaling the super-heated plasma of the fire and, to a lesser degree, from smoke inhalation. If your lungs can't take in oxygen, you lose consciousness quickly and are brain dead shortly after. Thankfully for her, she wouldn't feel much pain.

I agree. She looks creepy. The most terrible execution. This is almost the end of the story. The author did not show how it will look when the fire goes out

End of the series. The woman was lowered into the fire to the maximum depth. The executioner's assistants leave. Their work is done. Only the executioner remains on the scaffold. He watches as the fire devours the woman's dead body. He is pleased with the results of his labors. The executioner hopes that the lord and the bishop will reward him so that he can bring a piece of good roasted meat to his wife and children for dinner.

Which is worst, to be the first brought to the stake to be burned to death for crimes she never committed and watch the other innocents brought to the stake or be the last of the innocents brought to the stake and see what is planned for you?
The men do not care... the women will all suffer the torture of the flames before they expire for their crimes...

Not at all sure! It is known that those condemned to be burned at the stake die quickly, not from their burns, but asphyxiated by the smoke and heat of the flames.
But in the case of the "burning at slow fire", it was a different matter.
