You would see the guard attaching a footrest to your lower back. He puts one foot on top of the other. He'll attach a sign to the cross that says Erin the Betrayer. The centurion takes the nails out of the bag. You already know you're going to be nailed down with 3 nails. You see 3 types of nails of the same length (4 - 5 inches). The first are thin (a few millimeters thick with a round stem). The second ones are thicker (about 1.5 centimeters). The third ones are over 2 centimeters thick and have a sharp, cutting core, resembling a saw. All nails are soaked in brine. You think with which nails they will nail you.

Modesty? Well... I am trying to find words to describe this scene that are not obscene... Oh, here is what I can say, "this image is very erotically stimulating". I wanted to say it gave me hard on, but that would be crude.

Congratulations on a remarkably fine execution, Emily! There are features of 'Modesty' which are characteristic of classic mp5stab styling - particularly the tension in the hands and facial expressions of both figures, and the subtle highlight on the ponytail. But we are now seeing these details as part of a highly refined image.
The oblique, low elevation, setting sun casts both figures in a dramatic light. Two of the nail heads present a glint of bright metal, and the bloodstains indicate that all four nails were driven with the complete cross assembled on the ground. The shape of the cross shows ominously dark against the sky, with a contrasting highlight facing the sun.
The crucified girl's left side is highlighted against the shade of the cross, and her right side is in dense shadow against the lighter, evening sky. The combination of light and shade delineates her abdominal muscular tension, and the result is a commendably convincing scene.
The composition presents further contrasts - bright sunshine is combined with stormy clouds, heralding the onset of darkness. This is a brief moment in time, captured with a photographic, shallow depth of field. The heavy clothing of one girl accentuates the nudity of the other. The fabric weave is beautifully defined by the same lighting which places the shadows of the wearer's fingers between the shadows of the crucified legs and cross.
There seems to be a lot of horizontal light being exploited to produce these effects. The title may be ironic, since the character interaction is limited to the clothed figure gazing at the genital region of the naked girl. The realism is beautifully achieved and so effective, I am wondering if the crucified figure is based on a particular model?

Yet again the chiaroscuro is working to define the form of the crux figure - struck by the sunlight on her front, and thrusting her back into deep shadow. The combined figure and cross stands in dark contrast against the empty evening sky. The low horizon with distant hills indicates that the execution has been carried out on some elevated plateau. The vicious spikes have penetrated the patibulum and emerged brightly on the other side!
For International Women's Day, we are witnessing a celebration of the feminine, pregnant with the life which will be extinguished too soon. This is a remarkably powerful image - well done, Em!
She puts in mind of "In the name of God."

It is too easy to think crucifying someone is simply an execution. There is work required to mount someone on a cross. After she is hanged on the cross, it is her job to die. It could take hours or days... remember, she deserved this death!
