Terrible, and yet beautiful. Her stretched, feminine body contrasts with the stark rocky surroundings (perhaps her ribs echo the jutting rocks?), and I love the final frame outlining her against the sky.

Several viewers have already noted the expressive tension in the ribcage, and this extends through the musculature of the thorax, complementing the stretch of the arms and the facial expression. The traditional, three-nail crucifix with crossed feet presents a powerfully convincing spectacle in terms of details and composition.

Apart from the low viewpoint, three-quarter rear silhouette against the empty sky, there is no attempt at dramatic lighting. Indeed, the ambient daylight provides the impression of a slightly overcast day on this barren, elevated plateau, strewn with ancient, weathered rocks. The scene is as timeless as the full extent of Stephanie's suffering, and she blends into the landscape as if, in some disturbingly mundane way, she simply belongs there.

Adding to the casual sense of dread and awe, the fine details are powerfully restrained. The tear tracks have been remarked upon, the blood stains appear at all entry and exit wounds, the pyramid nail heads have been partially flattened by the hammer blows, and the nails present an unyielding, cold, iron texture. The grey wood of the securely roped cross is beautifully grained and knotted, and the end-grain of the patibulum looks just right.

A small number of nail holes bear testimony to the justice which has previously been delivered on this, or similar stipes nearby. Desperately pushing away from the stake, Stephanie derives some small comfort in the knowledge that her cross has been used so effectively in the past, and will certainly be her eventual cause of death. Yet again, beautiful work, Em. :)

Outstanding images. Great details. Beautiful legs and boobs!;)

I only wish the nails were shown as pounded all the way in. With so much shaft showing the spikes can't be driven that deeply in the wood. Might her hanging weight pull one of the nails out? That would be very embarrassing for an execution squad! :eek:

I have considered making some modifications to the props to allow that. But only if there was interest, of course!

This was just a quick one to test the new X-Cross I made. It is now fitted with a full procedural texture, one that I can use on other crosses. Never have to show the same cross twice. I mean, I will, I just don't have to. Let me know what you think of Erin's execution!

This is an excellent study in anticipation, with dramatic lighting and an executioner's viewpoint. We are looking down on the 'Pretender' who is arranging herself on the cross, prior to the initial stages of carpentry. The twin ponytails of red hair glisten in the low elevation sunlight and the physical features are described by the interplay of bright light and shadow.

The whip marks and tear tracks are subtly restrained, and the wounds from the thorns glow scarlet beneath the twisted crown. The old nail marks in the patibulum define the style of impending crucifixion. She knows exactly what is coming, and yet her expression registers shocked disbelief at the prospect of worse treatment to come. Nice work, EM. :)

They undressed her,whipped her,made her worn a crown of thorns,
told her that she will be savagely crucified and then left her alone waiting
for this torture but they are not coming back!

Or are they?

Just an alternative scenario that came to mind viewing
this image.
