Again: I simply cannot understand why pictures from dark ages and dark times always have to be so dark that you cannot see anything:

"Eternal Winter" enlightened:

Hungary really had one of the darkest European history lessons during the last 100 years. Conquered by German Nazis, "liberated" by Soviet Stalinists and then the bloodiest European anti-Communist uprising of the national Hungarian Army against the Soviet troops in 1956: Thousands of Hungarian civillians, soldiers and Soviet troops killed during the battles, lynching of Communists and Anti-Communists by different sides, ten-thousands of Hungarians fled to Austria and Germany, the Hungarian prime minister Imre Nagy and the military commander of the uprising, Pal Maleter, later executed by Soviet soldiers after a secret court sentenced them to death - and all of this in 1956, when Germany was already again recovering from WW II in an incredible speed. Hungarian and Soviet tanks were firing grenades against each other in the streets of the beautiful capital Budapest, today still and again one of the most beautiful cities in Europe with palaces built by Austro-Hungarian emperors in "Jugendstil"-Style and such a dark history that you could cry every time thinking of the 20th century!

Maybe you should check if your computer screen works properly ;)

We could make a test:
For example, in the very last "enlightened" picture, she seems to hold a stick or even a rifle or a gun in her hands. In the original picture, I cannot even see if she has hands at all.
OK, estimated by the empirical values of human society, I presumed before that she has hands but I did not see them or if she was holding anything. Did you? ;)

I found some other explanations: I am always working at night, I really have relatives in Transsilvania with unusual canine teeth, my eyes are conditioned to see in dark rooms with screens on the lowest light settings and that is probably the reason why the usual Western European & American screen standard is much too wasteful with its light settings for me. :D

The French crime thriller Le Doulos (1962) is a super-stylish film noir starring a young Jean-Paul Belmondo at the height of his coolness, as a small-time gangster. In this scene, he visits the appartment of Thérèse (Monique Hennessy), the girlfriend of one of his partners-in-crime, looking for her boyfriend. She offers him a drink, he knocks her out, hogties her with rope, uses his belt as a noose to tie her to a radiator, gags her with a stuff gag, then wakes her up by pouring a bottle of whiskey over her head. He beats her up, then ungags her while blood is pouring from her nose. She spills the information, he regags her and leaves, with her still tied and noosed to the radiator.

An unusually nasty scene for the time, more powerful through the casual matter-of-fact manner in which the violence plays out -- Belmondo keeps his pleasant conversational tone up throughout, even after the beating, and she doesn't struggle or scream. Plus, Monique looks stunning in that skirt, stockings and heels. That noose looks pretty dangerous though, especially while she is still unconscious after having been knocked out.

Tarantino has quoted Le Doulos as a big influence on Reservoir Dogs, and you can see it in this scene.

There is a very low-quality clip of this scene on Youtube, but these caps and video are from a very nice remastered DVD rip.

To my American ears, French is simply too romantic and lovely a language to get convincingly nasty in.

I was recently pleasantly surprised by the movie The Woman. I watched it for no particular reason, just in the mood for something silly, and the capture and attempted taming of a feral cannibal woman sounded amusing, if nothing else, and who knows?--maybe I'd get to see a bare mammary gland or two.

But it turned out to be better than I thought for one major, surprising (to me) reason, which I will get to at the end.

A hunter goes into the woods looking for something four legged to kill. He happens to scope out (literally) a woman bathing herself in a stream. He may be aware (or may not) that she is the last survivor of a tribe of feral cannibals that have terrorized the area for years. In any case he is so taken with her that he decides to capture her and teach her some civilization.

We soon learn that this guy is a freakin' psycho, and his ideal little family is all terrified of him, excerpt perhaps for his teenage son. They live in a more or less isolated house. The man has the cellar prepared as a guestroom, complete with four point DIY shackles and winches in place of a lounger or bed.

the woman pollyanna mcintosh1.pngthe woman 2.pngOut hunthing, he scopes out the woman bathing and eating a snack. Nothing like a little sushi, hold the rice! And note the bare breasts--this might be better than I thought!

the woman6.pngthe woman3l.jpgWelcome, make yourself to home! Relax, kneel a spell!

the woman5l.jpgThe woman bites the hand that feeds her.

the woman7.pngMeet your new family! We're gonna teach you civilized ways!

the woman8.pngthe woman9.pngthe woman10.pngLike taking a proper shower!

the woman11.pngthe woman12.pngAfter her shower, the woman has to be dried off. Wouldn't want her to catch her death, as the man says.

the woman13.pngThe man is feeling a little frisky so he visits the woman for a quick, romantic interlude. He is being viewed through a peephole by his son.

the woman14.pngthe woman15.pngThe son has some ideas of his own, which involve a pair of pliers. Homeowners, electricians, and sadistic psycho freaks can tell you that many great ideas start with pliers.

the woman16.pngthe woman17.pngThe boy's sister hears the woman screaming, and runs her brother off. I won't tell you how it ends, although I will warn you that anytime you're trying to tame a feral cannibal woman it may not end well. I know from personal experience that it can be a difficult task. I highly recommend the assistance of a professional feral cannibal whisperer.

the woman19.pngThe big surprise for me was the name at the end of the credits. Jack Ketchum was an award winning American horror writer, famous primarily for the book and movie The Girl Next Door. As I watched The Woman, certain scenes reminded me of very strongly of The Girl Next Door. Now I know why. Apparently The Woman is a direct sequel to his book Offspring, which was a sequel to Off Season.

Offspring was made into a movie in 2009. Pollyanna McIntosh, who plays the woman in Offspring, reprises the role in this movie, which I think gives a nice sense of continuity. McIntosh went on to write and direct a sequel to The Woman called Darlin', which is the name of the youngest sister in The Woman.

a) Le prigioniere dell'Isola del Diavolo.jpgFrench Poster L'Ile aux filles perdues.jpgItalian Poster Le Prigioniere dell'Isola del Diavolo.jpgLE PRIGIONIERE DELL'ISOLA DEL DIAVOLO" (Original Title) aka:"Women of Devil's Island",
aka: "L'Ile aux filles perdues"
Year: 1962 Country: Italy Run time: 90'
Director: Domenico Paolella
Actors in the leading roles: Guy Madison, Michèlr Mercier, Paul Muller, Marisa Belli, Margaret Rose Keil

From Domenico Paolella ( "The Nuns of Saint Archangel" 1973) a prolific italian director of low budget 'B' movies of the sixties and seventies came this little naughty film that puts up a titillating "Women in prison" story packed with lechery, corruption, molestations and tortures of beautiful women.
It is set in a penal colony of 17th century's French Guayana where the female convicts have a very hard life under the tiranny and abuses of Lieutenant Le Favre, the Commander, and of his corrupt guards. A french patriot arrives under false identity. He takes Le Favre's place and ultimately succeeds in stealing the island's treasure,
killing the Commander and setting the prisoners free. This work does not excel for screenplay and cinematography. Acting level is mean and dialogues conventional
but entertainment is guaranteed.

Quite similar to The Woman in some regards, I believe, is

Deadgirl (2008).

Two little shits trespass into an abandoned hospital, only to find a chained-up naked girl (Jenny Spain) in the basement. Upon closer investigation they find that the lady is in a peculiar state which renders her very low maintenance. As she is clearly not being missed, one of the boys entertains the idea of seizing the opportunity. His buddy is reluctant, yet smitten by the prisoner. They decide to keep their find a secret, and of course there's no way things could get out of hand...

All scenes of interest happen within the ill-lit basement room, in case anybody wants to brighten the pics up. :sun_smiley:
There are some variations in terms of positioning, but the eponymous girl stays mostly secured to a sturdy stretcher of table on wheels of sorts -- you know, for safety reasons.

The film utilises its simplistic story (and some literal guts and gore) to ask pesky questions about monsters: what they actually look like, behind what appearances they hide, and how easy it is to become one.

I’ve seen that one; it was pretty gross and not nearly as erotic as it sounds. One for the necrophiliacs.

It looks like the guy who attempted to rescue her, gets tortured. If you have that and would be willing to post it, I'd be very grateful.
