They really should change the name of the site to “Deviant Money” to reflect their priorities.
Hello Monty,
This isn't in reply to you exactly. I'm just happy.
Sadly, they are a business and Deviant Money pretty much sums them up. I've been thinking about publishing some of the disgraceful depravity I write and I've discovered that when I try, I'll become business fodder. That's just the way of the world.
Don't be angry people. Pornographic wickedness is still pouring onto DA, posted by hundreds of new people who haven't read the rules, every day. DA has been forced to concede that this too is the way of the world, this too is worthy business fodder.
I like the idea of a spectrum, with pure art at one end and voracious, grasping money lust at the other. We are all somewhere between the two. Art is only pure until you sell it, then it's just varying degrees of business. Our art of course is sex. No one is going to claim otherwise with any credibility, we all know why we do it don't we? Everyone pays for sex. Condoms, Viagra, her who'll dress in leather and thrash you to within inches of your credit card all cost shed loads. That's all on the business/art spectrum.
I'm relaxed enough to accept that my writing is only literary masturbation. All my role playing and the hours I spend intoxicated by my need for submission are only ever kinky sex. I'm a slut and I'm astonished that the internet provides me with the mechanism through which I can behave like the filthy fucking whore I love to play, artistically of course. I'm horrified by the thought that my loved ones could know I do it, which means if I do publish anything, I'll need to be vague about my inspiration.
If there's more to you than an ache to bring your erotic, dark desires to life and you want to sell your art, then you too are a business and must set out across a wilderness of subscription, tax, agency, risk and investment however unpalatable that is.
I'm have to admit that I'm still enjoying DA, people still message me and it's still the point of contact with those who want to explore the dark side it always was. Even Eclipse, unrelieved fuck up fest that it once was, seems to be running smoothly now. DA makes me grateful for Cruxforums. I think positively and understand what a jewel in the matrix of commerce and capitalism CF is.
Just to put DA in perspective, I opened an account on Wattpad, for writers, thinking it would be a suitable platform to spread myself out on. I think it had something like 70 million users worldwide. In the terms and conditions it said "Role play will not be tolerated, you pervert!" Consequently there was little passion to be read anywhere and it might well have been the most boring website it's ever been my frustration to trawl for fun.
Look up, look forward my friends. Put your hopes and aspirations out there and The Universe will hear you. Looking back is a waste of head space isn't it?
