it's amusing how the hairstyles and make-up date them - "Les Prisonnières" must be 1920s - but we damsels are always given a beauty makeover when we're about to be distressed!"Les Prisonnières"

Hardly worth distressing a damsel who isn't prettied up - she'd be distressed already.it's amusing how the hairstyles and make-up date them - "Les Prisonnières" must be 1920s - but we damsels are always given a beauty makeover when we're about to be distressed!

Conviction by General Bonaparte of a canteen maid guilty of concealing silver stolen by soldiers during the Italian campaign.
The episode is attested to in the memoirs of Captain Jean Coignet.
Bonaparte needed his soldiers too badly..."...a canteen maid guilty of concealing silver stolen by soldiers during the Italian campaign."
OK. What happened to the soldiers? (Probably nothing since they were men.)
Or to the silver? Probably not returned to the Italians."...a canteen maid guilty of concealing silver stolen by soldiers during the Italian campaign."
OK. What happened to the soldiers? (Probably nothing since they were men.)
Made into Bonaparte's campaign silver service? Lost in Russia?Or to the silver? Probably not returned to the Italians.
