I Will Be Dropping Off For A While .................

I assume that planes can get out of Minnesota today, because the front has moved through. Here it was -10 F (-24 C) here this morning, there is snow to shovel, and there is a wind (but not so much of the blizzard conditions as expected). Curse you, Bing Crosby.

I’m actually flying out of Chicago O’Hare, but yeah, the storm has turned out to be not as bad as forecasted. The issue now is high winds and the systemic fallout from over 5,900 flight cancellations. Hopefully I’ll be alright.

That's good

O'Hare seems to be operating well :)

Just trying to cheer you up, Barb.

(Don't tell her, Gentle Reader, but the good news is that there IS movement on the runway. ;)

The bad news:

Don't worry! Screenshot of a flighttracker five minutes ago.

There is air traffic on Chicago O'Hare.

Just, the pile up of aircraft in the center of the airport is worrying! Who gave Barb access to the control tower? :roto2palm:

They have funny shaped crosses around Chicago, don't they?

Holy crap that looks rough. Us Brits are always complaining about the weather, but to be fair, we don't often get those kind of blizzard conditions here - just lots and lots of rain :(

"Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to the flight from Chicago O'Hare to somewhere in Arkansas! My name is Barbara Moore and I just replaced your captain in the cockpit. We are about to take off, at least if someone could explain me what all these handles, buttons and indicators are for !?"

How hard can it be, right?
:D

No make-up mirror in this model?
Oh and no rear-view mirrors either. Then she can't even see what the plane is rolling over when she's reversing.

That should not be a problem, actually. The display shown with an arrow tells that!

The rule is simple : if the blue state is above the red state, it is OK!
If the red state is over the blue state, the plane has flipped over and there is a problem!.

Rear view mirrors are nevertheless useful, to check if such things as engines, wings and empennage are still in place! :roto2nuse:

Also mind that some models are equipped with an autopilot that also features an auto-demerits application!

Not that anyone here really cares, but just wanted to let you all know that I made it … numerous frustrating delays … but I made it to Seattle!
We really do care, Barb, otherwise there would have been all these posts above! ;)

"Ladies and gentlemen, in order to avoid the snow storm, we are forced to make a detour over Little Rock, Arkansas, where we will stay overnight and take off tomorrow morning. Unfortunately, all the hotels are fully booked, but some friendly local estate owners have offered a comfortable stay, especially for the blue state ladies among you!" :D
