And give het a few minutes to take in her crucifixion and she will wish to forget the sign being nailed to the stipe...
...but really does it matter??? Her fate is sealed....
One thing I learned from my carpentry experience is that large spikes with sharp points will often split seasoned wood. Railroad spikes have a chisel point for a reason; you turn them across the grain so they cut the fibers rather than spread them apart..
There's a large psychological component to crucifixion in my opinion. Depending on the victim herself, having her name and crime displayed to everyone who happens to see her there naked and suffering for that crime could really weigh on her. And as you say, for some it might matter not at all.
