EVERYONE gives in to the cornu, eventually, Tree.

Many of them secretly desire it, in their hearts.

But only a woman gets a choice as to where it goes . . . . . . .

St. Justin described a cornu as being like a rhinoceros horn, which could have different meanings. It could be as big as a rhinoceros horn, which seems unlikely since that would guarantee that the victim would die sooner rather than later. Or it could be that it appeared like the horn of a rhinoceros because it pointed straight up beneath the victim. But all of the rhinoceroses that Romans were likely to see had two horns...

Raising herself on the cross was an agonizing struggle. It required Sabina to pull against the nails that impaled her wrists to help lift herself up, twisting the nails in her wounds. And it also meant that she had to bear the agony of her weight pressing down on the nails in her feet. She was actively torturing herself. She could lessen the agony in her feet at any time, just by letting herself drop to hang by the wrists again. It was only by force of will that she was able to make herself endure the burning agony in her feet long enough to suck in a few deep breaths and relieve the pain in her wrists a little.

Julia Lepida, watching Sabina's struggle, describes it this way:

She moved upward in stages, straining, pushing and pulling against the nails, her body arching outward, groaning in agony through her clenched teeth. Every movement seemed to exact its price in pain as she slowly pushed herself up higher.

And Sabina already knows that since the end of the cornu is no longer poking her butt, it must be beneath her now.

The Romans may have been familiar with the black rhinoceros. In those days, its habitat stretched as for north as the southern Nile, in what is now Sudan. Sadly, like all rhinos today, it's habitat has shrunk. The species has two horns, the front one being quite formidable.

However, they may have been more familiar with the Indian rhinoceros. Its habitat included the Indus River, in modern Pakistan. The animal, or, at least its horn, could have been brought to Rome via the trade routes from the East. The Indian rhino has one horn that is much shorter than the fore-horn of the black rhino.

Like it's African cousins, the Indian rhino is threatened with extinction.
A mosaic from the Villa Romana del Casale, in Sicily, which dates from the mid-IV century, shows what is likely the one-horned Indian rhino.

Sabina has pushed herself up partway on the cross, enough to get her butt above the point of the cornu. Julia Lepida describes what Sabina did then:

Even though the pain of the nails pressing into her wounded wrists and feet must have been beyond imagination, she had not forgotten the cornu. The rough end of its base prodded her bare back and buttocks as she raised herself, making it impossible for her to lean back against the cross. When she was high enough to let it slip between her legs, she began to ease her hips back toward the cross, craning her neck to peer between her legs, anxious to locate it and avoid it.

I am not enjoying this, Ulrika. It does intrigue me...

...carry on, Jedakk...

She's turned on by it, but not like Sabina. Neither Julia Lepida nor Sabina are what they appear.

Which is, of course, in the story.
I read in one of the beginning stories about their visit at a brothel in Pompeï and their quarrel about who was who

That's actually in the final chapter when all is revealed. Julia Lepida has a terrifying moment when she thinks she has been found out. Balbus guesses part of the story, but not quite all of it. Then Julia Lepida reveals to us who she really is and the real reason that Sabina had to be crucified.

I can tell that an awful lot of people haven't read the story and are just looking at the pictures. Oh well, I gave it my best and thought it would be a hell of a story, the most detailed and realistic story in the crux genre ever written. And I thought that so many illustrations would really make people want to read it to see what is actually happening in those pictures. Some obviously have - thanks for that.

Wragg has a halo :)

I enjoyed the story very much, Jedakk.

But I shan't say who Julia Lepida really is, that would be a spoiler. If you want to know, go read the story! It's worth it!

for sure it is and the pics are more understandable....................or turning it round.................simply read and enjoy

For Sabina, every move she makes can result in sudden stabbing pain. She has to raise herself on the cross so that she can breathe and try to relieve some of the burning pain in her wrists. Later she will avail herself of the cornu's horn to try to rest on, but that won't happen until she's so desperate that she has no choice. Right not, she doesn't want that cornu inside of her and she's doing all she can to avoid it. Julia Lepida describes the sight of Sabina trying to avoid the cornu:

Easing her buttocks back toward the post, the point of the horn slid along her cleft as she spread her legs further and carefully tried to straddle it without letting it enter her. That would come later, when her desperation to escape the agony drove her to pay its price for whatever relief it offered. When the point touched her sensitive inner lips, she shuddered and jerked, moaning at the stab of pain in her wounds the sudden movement caused. I felt a shudder run through me as well, despite my efforts to be a Roman domina and pretend I was not affected.

There was a murmur from the crowd and I heard some of the men making bets as to whether she would take it up her podex or cunnus, while others said no, a bit more time, she’s not ready yet. For a man condemned to die on the cross, there was only one place the horn could fit when agony and the fight to breathe forced him to rest his weight on it. But a woman could choose to be violated in either of two places, both of which would be painful and humiliating. And her choice would be clearly visible to the onlookers as the horn entered her.

I do wish to mention that downloading your epic took me a long time as I get only 1mB download and I 'opened' it instead of 'downloading' it. So I only read it quickly and must admit my focus was far more on your art so I have enjoyed your revisiting of the story!

I did not read this story for a long time because I had no way to download it and open it. You see, for several years the only computer I used for the forums was my iPad. And with an iPad you cannot open the files, so I was content to admire the erotic Sabina artwork that I found elsewhere on these forums. You see, I not embarrassed to admit that I always read Playboy for the pictures:devil:. It was only within the last year that I was able to use my laptop to download the whole story, since I was no longer using the laptop for "work". I have since enjoyed the story just as much as the artwork.
I really like these revisits that you have been posting Jedakk, especially the added bonus images:)
